Need storage solution for 4k video RAW files for clients of videography business. Currently using home PC HDD, USB drives (20TB worth and counting) and Gdrive for sharing links with clients.
Need to access and edit on Adobe software from various locations on a laptop using Wifi. (Is home internet speed relevant?) Have done research but each disadvantage seems to soil all other advantages, Synology usability being on old hardware for example. Terramaster F4 Max looked promising... not a clue beyond this.
Thank you so much for helping me out with this Robbie and Eddie!

Hello! I've been watching your videos a lot (big fan) and decided to write to you. So I want to do something called de-google which you most certainly know what is. I want to be able to self host Jellyfin, Radarr, Sonarr, NZB and torrent. It is not required to do any transcoding since I would use Radarr4K and Sonarr4k so directplay on my devices. I'd also like to self host either immich or photoprism.
I've been looking at building my own server as well as zimaboard/zimablade with their two drive capability but no option to upgrade properly. I literally just want something that is secure and take up as little space as possible.
I cannot decide which NAS or etc to get which would suite my needs, if I want to go for Synology or other equivalent brand or other options. Which one would you recommend?
Thank you very much and once again, big fan of your channel ?
Best regards,
Mike

Currently have a DS215J with 10Y+ old 2x WD 3TB RED WD30EFRX's. It gets very slow when browsing or backing up pictures.
Looking for a low (idle) power and a very responsive and long term acceptable platform, so was thinking of going all flash as that will earn itself back at least partially.
Also 2.5GbE would be nice.
So far have been looking into the Odroid H4 with the M.2 4x1 expansion board or an HP Elite Mini 600 or 800G9 with 13100T or 13500T.
For the storage the Lexar NM790 4TB seems to be a good option as the lack of a DRAM cache appears to make it relatively low power.

I just purchased the $500 Minisforum NUC. now I need to get a hdd case. I have 20, 18, 16, and 14TB HDDs currently in Orico hdd docks. I am planning on either Unraid or TrueNas.
I do not know wheter I should run Thunderbolt or SATA. I know I can get a PCI SATA card for the Minisforum, but which is faster and stable...Thunderbolt or SATA?
this will be for a 4k Media sever for 1 to 2 users.
please advise on options.
Thank you,
Ron Ellis

Hi
I recently bought a DS423+, being completely new to the world of NAS's. Reasons for buying were I have alot of movies, which were on a 5tb external hard drive, which i kept connected to my Nvidia Shield Pro, and would then use Plex to watch those movies on my TV. Didn't like the idea of the drive, (which was refurbished) suddenly dying and having to get all those movies again, so thought I'd get a NAS with bigger hard drives to expand my movie library, and also run my plex media server from there. Also liked the idea of being able to remotely access any personal files I want to.
So I've set the NAS up in my living room as that's where the router is. This is the room my TV is in too and so where I do majority of my streaming. My issue is that the hard drives (2 x 12 TB) are quite noisy and irritate me while watching on my tv. I have ordered a mouse pad and velcro strips, but I wonder if there's any alternatives. I wish I could move the NAS to a different room...

Hi,
I was watching the videos that you done up to today about diy n-as. I need your help. My big issue is the heat, during the summer time temperature inside the house gets to 32 C degrees. One of the kids has air conditioning allergies and this is the cause that I cannot reduce the house temperature. What the nas should do: media server (sonarr, radarr, plex server, convert from x264 to x265 for space economy) I know how to manage a docker container but this means time to search for fixes and afterwards to apply them, which this days I don’t have. Today I use an old Drobo plus a small minipc on windows for everything I mentioned, remotely administrated, when time. This setup today is a lazy one, slow to real slow. Ie: down speed 10 -14 Mb. Can you please recomand a hardware and software setup ?
Thank you,
The beers r on me !
Corneliu
