They replied asking to make the suggestion here synology.com/en-global/form/suggest_device

Other thing is maybe to help submit, this way if they get a lot off requests they maybe do something.

Looking for a 2-bay NAS that support PLEX. Which is the best between these ones: QNAP TS-253D vs TS-264 (new). NAS will use mostly MKV files. Other suggestions. Will use probably Seagate HDD Iron Wolf Pro (2 x 18GB) in RAID 1. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello, I am interested in buying a NAS for a small business (3 people) that will be used for online work and also for personal use. The features that I am looking for include real-time communication, spreadsheet and project management, data backup for Mac, Android, and iPhone, file server and synchronization, multimedia hub for videos and music, email server, and VPN.

From my research so far, I am leaning towards the Synology DS1522+ (or DS923+), 4X Seagate Ironwolf Pro 8TB, Synology E10G22-T1-Mini and if you recommend it, I am also considering adding 16GB or 32GB of DDR4 ECC RAM for the Synology DiskStation DS1522+ (125€ or 220€ respectively).

Currently I have a DS216j working with 2x2tb (raid 1), I bought 2x16tb in order to increase my media management, but since I will be starting from zero, I thought I should future proof my solution.

At the moment, I only use my NAS for data management and Plex. Plex is not a big issue since I have one of those really old lcd tvs (maybe it runs max 1080p), but I'd like to upgrade to a 4k in the future. All my media is being downloaded on 1080p since there is no reason to have 4k if I don't have a 4k TV.
Also, I'm planning to host a few minecraft and zomboid servers, therefore I will be using a few dockers.

I'm looking to either buy a DS920+ or DS923+, but the transcoding part got me confused. I've been reading a lot about it, but for me still not clear if I will be having an issue with 1080p files being streamed on a 1080p tv, or if I upgrade to a 4k tv, I will be having problems with a 1080p files.

Could you just tell me what should I just buy? thank you

Is there a limit of length of cables between the NAS and TV's or Laptop/computer, where length MAYBE will lower the throughput between the units? And if storing the NAS in an enclosed drawer/cabinet where maybe the heat can't get away easier, can that temperature be to high for the NAS so you'll have to install a fan to extract the heat from that cabinet?

Thank you for your amazing videos on YT! I'm more on the writing/directing side of video production and can have a little trouble with the tech stuff sometimes. I will be editing some 4K - 6K video footage on my Mac Studio, and I'm trying to decide whether to go with Barracuda or Ironwolf drives. I don't have a NAS storage system set up yet, but I would like to eventually. Can I use an Ironwolf drive as a single-use drive for now, and then insert it into a NAS system later, when I get one for bigger projects? Or would you recommend sticking with Barracuda for now? Thank you sooooooo much!

Selecting my first NAS for the following:

1. Regular safe backup for my data (~2-3 TB now but steadily increasing). Mostly photos plus various personal files and documents that I would regret losing (the latter don't take as much space)
2. Good software for managing & sorting photos would be a strong plus. I am an enthusiast photographer, have plenty of photos and constant backlog in processing them
3. Easy iPhone photos offload to NAS so that I don't need to clean the phone's storage manually often. Ideally with support of iPhone's "live photos" (nice to have, not must have)
4. Ability to access my music remotely and listen to it on iPhone everywhere

Security & protection of my data from hackers is important. I am not a tech geek, so my NAS should be easy to set up and have an intuitive user-friendly interface. Speed of NAS seems to be of low priority as I won't use it for videos or gaming.

I have a single iMac in my own office for which I want to improve the back system.  The building I'm in has an installed wifi and cabled network.     

For the work iMac I currently use Time Machine to back up to two external HDD's which I rotate to take home with me.  At home I have a recently purchased Synology NAS DS923+.  Still setting that up.

I'm wondering if I can set my iMac to connect to the DS923+ over the internet to back up automatically to schedule.  I thought I saw something about DSM 7.2 improving this functionality.

I have watched a number of your videos on NAS products. My use case as a photographer will be mainly storage for Lightroom/Photoshop use. and some minimal video editing. My current environment is two internal disks on a Windows 10 Desktop mirrored with regular backups to DAS devices and I am near running out of space. All of the media is on the RAID and the OS is on Drive C, so I think it will be easy enough to move to a NAS.
I like the Synology DS1522+ after watching a few videos and doing my own research. However, I am concerned about the "Supported Disk selection. I lean toward WD Red products. But I do not like the Red Plus in the 6TB size for the 5400 RPM. I want to get all the speed I can once I add the 10GbE card. What Issues would I run into going to the Pro 6TB which is 7200 RPM and not on the approved list or the un-approved list? Other options? I am also looking for a low noise disk.

Hi guys, Anestis from Greece here, I just got my first NAS, a Qnap 464, thanks to your recommendations for a 4bay Nas and now trying to decide what kind of hard drives to buy. I need a lot of space (50 TB to 60 TB) usable space in RAID5 and the cost is very high. Do you think that the Ultrastar series is suitable for my case? I will mainly use my NAS for multimedia library and PC backup. THANKS AGAIN for your great articles and helpful videos!!!
