Which NAS to Buy |

Want to buy a NAS for home. Would be connected to Internet 24-7. I have typical home gig internet at this time. Family would access NAS daily to back up iPhones, iPads, MacBook etc REMOTELY & to view photos & “VIDEOS” REMOTELY. Want to us NAS as mass storage for family, basically replacing storage on our iPhones & tablets. Would be accessing it REMOTELY via cellular (& wifi if available). Ability to easily access & watch VIDEOS smoothly (ie: 4k shot on iPhone & other videos) on our iPhones REMOTELY TOP priority. Ease of use (good user experience) via our iPhones also important. What would you suggest
inc configuration of exact make, model of NAS, HDs, SSDs, Ram. I’m wide open

Hey, Im new here! Im a professional filmmaker and want to build a NAS that I can edit on. Do you think the following setup will work?
Im planning on buying a Synology DS1522+ with:
5x Seagate Exos 20TB HDD in RAID 5
10gbe network expansion card
M.2 SSD for caching
I will be the only one editing on it for about 95% of the time. I'm editing Apple ProRes or BlackMagic Raw footage on a Windows machine, which I'm planning on getting a 10gbe PCI card for. I'm running many projects that are about 50gb each.
Expandability is a big plus for me on the DS1522+, since I can add two DX517 down the line when I need it. That is a big reason why I'm planning on buying the DS1522+ over the DS923+ and also because the DS1522+ has an extra drive bay.
What do you guys think about this setup? Will that work for editing or do you recommend another NAS? Thanks for the help!

Hi, i just want to use synology for synology photos and am thinking of using an unsuported SSD like this one - https://www.ebuyer.com/1539332-integral-2tb-v-series-v2-2-5-ssd-inssd2ts625v2x
Either 3x or 4x in SHR raid. Do you think it will work, despite the drives being unsuported? Anything I am not considering? It's really the noise and power consumption that I'm mainly concerned of.

Hello,
I've been looking for a network storage device which is fast enough to edit 4k video of from (premiere/fcpx/avid), and is an easy way to have a little redundancy and having options for expansion later on. It has to act as an external disk if thats possible, or does that demand a difficult setup? And do i need 10gbe and extra nvme-memory? At this point i figured the Synoligy DS1821+ could be the one, or is it not?
Thanks!

I'll be using it as a PLEX server and moving away from cloud services like Dropbox, One drive, Google drive. I have both android and apple phones that need backup and I have my main computer that will also need to be backed up.
I'm new to NAS but I have built my own computers in the past.

Hey, can you please recommend a UPS that will support the QNAP TS-253D NAS for at least 2 hours? Ideally, 12 hours of support would be nice but I'm not sure if anyone makes one that large.
Thanks,
Ed Morris

DS923+ Setup |

After watching and reading Nascompares, i bought two ds923+ each w/ 4-6TB Red Plus drives. I want to setup a file server at the office and set the other one up at home to have the office use as an off-site back-up. But also use the one at home for my personal stuff (100k photos) and Plex.
Not sure of the best way to partition the drives and what software to use as a backup between the two. Any help would be appreciated.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks in advance.
