Can any CMR drive be used as a NAS drive?

Will be getting a synology 4 bay nas.
my nas will run the times my PC will run, so about 12 hours or less. i will shut down the NAS when not needed. its not going to be a media server.
its only use will be backup of files. and photo backups straight from phones.
I feel like 2 TB HDD's are enough for me, so 2x4 with Raid 5 will give me 6TB of space, more than enough more me.
I saw on seagate's website than 2TB Barracuda Pro's are CMR.
If i use those, will they be fine for the long term? or should i just spend more and get the 2 TB Ironwolf?
What about WD Red? are those drives reliable now after the issue with WD pulling some scam a few years ago?

Non-Ecc Ram / Ecc Ram

So far, there has been non-ECC in Synology diskstations, apart from the business devices. I was never aware of the ecc ram topic up to now, since the latest models which now have ecc ram. nowhere was said that this could become a problem. all product reviews I did find on the internet where also used as a storage pool for images and data backups or as a data server. now it is suddenly said that ecc ram would be safer for the data. what can I do if I want to keep my old disk station ds1520+, that my data remain safe, that the backups of the nas on a second nas do not become corrupt, even with non ecc. check the memory daily? What do you recommend? switch to brand new Nas with ecc ram? Looking forward hearing from you, with kind regards Nicholas

DAS OR NAS

Hi. I currently have a few drives plugged into a Zidoo media player but want to put them all into 1 unit. I wanted to go with a DAS and stick 2 16tb drives in a 4 day and add extra drives in the future. (No raid). However I have started thinking about NAS which would allow me to attach the Zidoo in the main room but then add plex upstairs when I want to relax in bed. Would I be able to add more drives moving forward into the NAS without wiping the current drives? Again no raid required. Thank you

DS3622xs+ vs DS1823xs+

Would it be better to max out a DS1823xs+ (8x18tb in raid 6) with M.2 and max ram, or DS3622xs+ with 4x18tb in raid 10 (active) and 8x18 in raid 6 (archive)? Minimum 10gbe connection but willing to upgrade to 25gbe pcie if it would bottleneck.
Single Editor/Color Grader. Footage is minimum 4k (up to 8k) and projects are about 20-30tb each.
Just looking for fastest 100tb+ synology in my price range! Appreciate all advice.

Hello!
I am looking for a storage solution with redundancy in case of a failed drive and an automatic backup to a cloud like Google Drive.
It is mostly for pictures and research study data storage, so very important data.
I have done my research and I was going to get the Synology DS420j, but then I realized it is a bit old now.
The only think I miss about it is 2.5/10 GBe.
Do you think a new NAS in the j (budget) series will come out soon?
I can wait a little while longer. Should I?
Thank you very much! Your videos in YouTube are a great help.

Noise -- WD Red Plus 14TB (WD140EFGX) vs. WD Red Pro 22TB (WD221KFGX)

Hi -- would you be able to compare these specific drives for noise?
I know the Pro-series are generally louder than the Plus-series and the data sheets include the acoustics dB, but I was wondering if there are some other intangibles (e.g., the drive heads spin up/down or clicking) that are worse on the Pro 22TB but might not show up on the spec sheet?
I currently have the Plus 6TB in a storage closet and can barely hear the noise so I'm concerned going to the Pro series might be too loud.

Hello.
I have watched several reviews you did on SSD...
Which one would you recommend for the PS5? The Nextsorage or the Addlink A95?
What is you opinion on the Lexar NM800 Pro SSD?
Thank you
