Hi, I m trying to build a all in one Server and am currently struggling with some things:
Choices so far are, Sagitarius 8 bay nas case, i7 12700, Unraid, 2x Seagate Exos 22tb. Im just not sure what mainboard to get. Maybe you have some advice. Should i get one from aliexpress that seems to fit my needs? I also saw some biostar ones that didnt seem too bad. Im also thinking if i get an aliexpress one should i get one with sodimm slots or not (should be more efficient no?) also is it hard to get good c states with aliexpress booards? technically i got 32gb corsair dominator plats laying around but i couuld also sell them to get a bigger more reasonably priced kit. Also should i go for ECC board/Ram? the cpu is capable of doing so after all.
Thanks in advance

Hello,
Thanks for all your articles, it is very detailed! I found you as I was looking for a solution to backup my data but I’m not very technical and all of this is as bit confusing to me. That’s why I’m writing you an email, thanks in advance for your help.
As a freelance videographer I’m looking for a solution to backup and archive my data.
I currently work off SSD T7 to do my edit and archive everything twice on HDD once my projects are done.
I’d like to find a solution to backup automatically my SSD (for my ongoing projects) and to archive my projects once done with a RAID system. I will still use the HDD to do a second archive to be stored somewhere else.
I would need 30-35 TB and I’d like the option to add more storage in the future.
I don’t need to edit from the NAS, just archive/backup.
I’d like the NAS to be pretty quiet.
If I can access/share data thought internet it’s a plus!
I’m looking for an easy set-up with a moderate price.
Thanks so much for your help! Have a great!

HI, I am wondering if you can assist me with my Asustor Lockerstor 10 Gen3 NAS issue.
Issue:
My SSD Cache is no longer accessible. It was working before as an SSD cache.
The HDD / SSD cache Volume states the cache is working fine, but the NAS keeps bleeping at me with errors. I have viewed the logs, and the logs say that my SSD cache has been destroyed.
The set-up:
Volume 1 is set as the boot drive with a RAID 1 configuration.
Volume 2 is set as my main Storage pool with read-only SSD Cache.
I do have some pctures if you would like some
Please advise on how i can resolve this issue thank you

Hi, i'm helping a family member setup their new manufacturing warehouse. They have 2 users that need access to the files (cad files) and connections to 2 laptops that run the machines (that will be on a seperate vlan with no internet access that can only read the files.) I was going down the route of suggesting a synology ds225+ with 2x2TB WD Red SSD's in raid 1 and just saw on your video that they are locking third party drives out. So i was wondering what you'd suggest as i'm going to be getting a UniFi UCG Ultra to create the vlans but mainly need to be able to remote access the system to configure and maintain as i live in Spain but the system will be in the UK. Thank you

Hi!
Very torn appart looking at the orico cf1000 that just ended kickstarter and the ugreen dxp8000 plus…
I am looking for a solution that would be compact, support from 8-10 hdds per unit plus at least two nvme drives. Needs to have 10gbps Ethernet and ideally pcie extension or something else that allows for an sfp 25gbps fibre card.
My goal is to build a proxmox cluster at home and use ceph for distributed storage for vms and containers. On top of that I would virtualize unraid or another os for my storage needs.
I really like the design of the dxp8000 plus and it seems to have good ventilation for cooling on the opposite of the orico. The pcie expansion is also great!
But… I reached out to orico and they agreed to allow me to purchase 3x cf1000 at kickstarter price 899$ usd which is
substantially lower than other options. Is there something in the diy world that would compete with that price point for similar specs? Otherwise would you risk going for the cf1000? Thanks!!

I am looking for a nas that can not only act as a cloud storage drive, but also allows me to store and edit photos as I am a “advanced amateur” photographer. I am looking for the sweet spot between the two that is affordable. I have been tossing back and forth the idea of the ugreen DXP4800 plus and the DH4300 plus but I am unsure of them or unsure if there might be a better option. I would also like to have remote access to files.
Any recommendation/help is greatly appreciated.

Hi your information is fantastic. Based on the different videos and articles, it seems like the 24 series (DS224+) vs DS423+, the older ones fare better in your reviews. I am interested in a small use case - mostly cloud backup. The desire is for Plex/Jellyfin but it seems like getting a mini PC is better to run streaming and use the Synology for just storage. I do want some future proofing so as you said, more drive bays = more scalability. I don't want to break the bank - lower than $900 - $1K. I am in the US so I can use BHPhoto, Adorama, or a local store. Do you recommend 23 series over 24 series?

HI, Love your channel and have been watching for a very long time now - thank you.
Just bought a QNAP TS464 (I waited so long for the new models, bought it and they were announced a week later - typical!), anyhow, still going through your videos to setup properly (PLEX, Photos etc) but was thinking of getting some NVME SSD for caching.
I have 4 X 4TB HDD running RAID 5. I mainly use it for photo/video storage, watching videos and a small amount of video editing.
Is it worth me buying 2 X NVME cards (500GB) or upgrading the RAM from 8GB to 16GB or both?
Or, leaving it as it is as it will make no difference?
Many thanks in advance, David
