I currently have a TS-251D and i'm in need of a 4bay as i have maxed out my drives.
I know you don't have a crystal ball but in your honest opinion when do you think a Successor to the TS-464 will be released. Do you think next year or two years time as i saw the video at Computex and it was suggested QNAP are working on something. I would hate to buy now if it will release early next year.
Many thanks and best regards.

USB C to 5Gbps Ethernet adapter |

Hi,
Could you please recommend a USB-C to Ethernet adapter that can do up to 5Gbps speed, supports jumbo frames up to 9K and if possible, supports MAC address passtrough. The last one is not essential but can be a bonus.
Max budget £70.
If not available, will there be a new model from established suppliers?
Kind regards
Leslie

Seeking Your Advice on Improving My NAS and Office Setup |

Dear Robbie,
I’ve been a long-time subscriber to your channel and always find your builds and reviews both compelling and incredibly helpful. I’m reaching out for a bit of advice if you don’t mind.
I’m a British expat currently living and working in Vietnam, where I run a small business operating between the UK and Vietnam, specialising in fresh produce consultancy. While our data storage requirements aren’t huge, we do need a reliable and secure setup—especially with Vietnam’s e-invoicing requirements and compliance obligations.
To cut a long story short, I’ve built a relatively simple setup so far (which might give you a bit of a chuckle), but I’m now looking to consolidate and improve it. I’m particularly interested in building a dedicated DIY NAS using True NAS SCALE (Community Edition).
Here’s my current setup:
1. Two Office PCs – Both are ASRock Mini PCs using AMD Ryzen 5 5600G, each with:
o 64GB RAM
o 1TB NVMe (OS)
o 2TB NVMe
o 2x 1TB SATA SSD
(Yes, it’s a bit overkill for direc

NAS upgrade |

I currently have a TS-133 and am looking to upgrade. I’m torn between the TS-432x and the TS-464. I have no interest in containers or VMs as my server handles this. Only really looking for file storage and streaming media/games from it (steam games loaded via NAS). Sometimes I feel the TS-133 can chug a bit, I find the CPU to struggle when inside QTS and not even transferring. I do like the idea of low power ARM though. Any advice would be appreciated.

ECC and mITX |

I’ve watched quite a few of your videos. Many thanks!!! I first discovered you when trying to install TrueNAS on an old QNAP w/o video-out, which was successful.
Anyway, lately looking to build another DIY NAS and thinking about mITX just for flexibility of being able to migrate the board between various cases. You also seem to have an affinity for ECC, but many of the boards you are reviewing lately don’t have it.
I’m looking for a mobo that supports ECC and is similarly featured to the CWWK boards you’ve reviewed. It seems like the only one you’ve reviewed recently that falls into this category is the Gigabyte Aorus board that comes in an HL8 which you sorta criticized because of its single NIC and the fact that it uses one of the NVME to get all 8disks connected. Do you have any further thoughts? Can you confirm that CWWK Q670 board actually supports ECC if you find an AMD 7735HS CPU? I might just end up with the Gigabyte board.

Alternative to ZFS software is faster & better |

quote: "Central to all CyberVault models is the integration of the ZFS file system"
But ZFS software is incapable to handle larger multi-server systems that ORICO is fully capable of delivering.
Let us show you how to cluster two or more CF1000 servers to create a single unix mountable namespace, growing storage without practical limit. This can get you into the the small- and mid- Enterprise market.
At the very least, send me the email of your best filesystem expert so that we can correspond.
cheers,
Doug

Assistance with QNAP NAS Mirroring |

Hello,
You’ve assisted me in the past with purchasing our dept. NAS, and you were very helpful. We had previously scheduled a virtual meeting, and if that’s still the best route for resolving this, I’d be happy to do that, This issue might be simpler than expected—although I know nothing ever is...
I’m looking for the best solution to mirror two QNAP NAS devices. I initially tried using the Snapshot Replica feature, but I was surprised to find that it requires me to perform a local snapshot, which I don’t have space for. I also thought of the Hybrid Backup app, but it’s asking me to log in to the cloud with my ID, which is blocked by my IT department.
So, my question is: Is there an application I can install manually that would allow me to create a complete mirror and maintain a sync between them, without relying on cloud access or snapshots?
Thanks again for your help, and I look forward to your guidance!
Best regards, -Chad

SMB-type NAS for community digital archive |

Hello! We are a non-profit community-oriented digital archive in Philadelphia, the People's Media Record, and we are looking to replace our ageing DAS, which has had a bunch of drive failures recently, with a NAS, so people in our community can access their media collections--we already have an old QNAP rackmount, which has served us well, so I we are considering staying with QNAP but also looking at the Terramaster and UGreen options.
An 8 drive NAS would be ideal, especially with a RAID that would be able to deal with two drives failing at the same time. We have been looking at the QNAP TS-973AX and the TS-873AU. Would that kind of NAS be ok 7-10 years down the line? Would having SSDs be preferable for our purposes: limited-use database, read, write? Do SSDs really last longer?
The UGreen DXP8000 Plus and Terramaster T9-450 also look good, but the warranty is one year less, and I am concerned about the less powerful CPU, would either thing be an issue?
Thank you!
