Recherche NAS

#1
Bonjour,

Thanks for the message. Both upgrade options are perfectly valid for your DS920 plus. If you want the simplest and most economical path, adding the DX517 and creating a second volume is absolutely fine. The expansion bay connects at full bandwidth and will not slow down Plex or your video library. Plex reads data sequentially, and the DS920 plus handles that workload easily whether the files sit in the main chassis or the expansion.

A six bay NAS is the cleaner long term solution if you want more power, more SSD flexibility, and a single large pool, but it is not required for Plex performance. For most home users the DX517 gives plenty of capacity without changing the rest of your system.
