NAS Recommendation - Enquiries - 10-10-2025 I am looking for a nas that can not only act as a cloud storage drive, but also allows me to store and edit photos as I am a “advanced amateur” photographer. I am looking for the sweet spot between the two that is affordable. I have been tossing back and forth the idea of the ugreen DXP4800 plus and the DH4300 plus but I am unsure of them or unsure if there might be a better option. I would also like to have remote access to files. Any recommendation/help is greatly appreciated. RE: NAS Recommendation - ed - 10-10-2025 Thanks for the message. For your budget and use case — photo editing, cloud-style storage, and remote access — the UGREEN DH4300 Plus is probably the better option right now. It’s quieter, runs cooler, and offers solid performance for editing photos directly over the network if you’re using a good router or wired connection. The DXP4800 Plus is more powerful overall and has room to grow, but it’s likely to push you past $500 once you add drives. Both use the same OS (UGOS Pro), which supports remote access, mobile apps, and cloud sync without subscription fees. If you prefer something more established, a used Synology DS923+ or QNAP TS-464 are strong alternatives that offer better long-term software support and wider app compatibility, though usually at a slightly higher cost. For your setup, I’d suggest: • Go with the DH4300 Plus if you want simplicity and quiet operation. • Add SSDs for your active photo projects and HDDs for long-term storage. • Enable UGREEN Cloud or Tailscale for secure remote access. |
