Looking to purchase a first NAS. Looking at storage of Photos and home videos mainly to possibly stream to Sony KD55 a1 tv. Our router is a Linksys Velop MX 8400 ( 2 4200 nodes ) Running 2 MacBook pros, older quad core i7 with radion graphics card and a brand new M2 max. Watched lots of your videos about Synology NAS but, would like some advice about which one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Not especially tech savvy, looking at ease of use as a major factor. Later addition of CCTV a possibility.

I have WD home cloud and i want to upgrade to a Nas that mainly to store and organise my personal photos.
My wife and I will have access to it and we need to be able to retrieve the photos remotely and quickly on demand.
I liked the features synology photos offers but I don't know how well are they compared to other brands.
Whats the best option do you recommend?

Family of four, 3x Mac and 1x Windows users. Currently using Google Drive, Google Photos, Dropbox and OneDrive to store documents, MS Office files, PDFs, and photos. Don't want to pay monthly subscriptions for storage. No idea of a realistic budget and probably depends on the different solutions available and the one that suits the best. Want an idiot proof user interface which is easy to navigate. Thank you!

I have between 500-1000 docs and spreadsheets combined and thousands of pictures from 2 cell phones, 2 laptops, and a desktop PC. I'd like something that I could schedule automatic backups, but didn't know if that was possible from the Android cell phones. I also need builtin photo software that can help me categorize photos so I can find them later. I had planned on getting a DS220+, but wanted your opinion on the new DS223 based on my needs. I would be using this as a central backup for photos and some docs. Some of the other non plus units did not get great reviews.

Hello!
As a big fan of your channel I was hoping you might have an answer to my question.
When replacing the NVMe’s on my Synology DS923+ a broke one of the closing doors.
I searched all over the internet the find spare parts but couldn’t find it.
Do you might know where to order such slot door?
Thanks in advance for your feedback!
Regards,
Hans

Hi there,
I'm a home user that likes to do some gaming but also photography and videography. I've recently decided to pick up my first NAS (had previously used DAS), a QNAP TS-473A and QNAP QSW-2104-2T along with a QM2 combo 10Gbe card.
I have an existing network running on WiFi which works fine, but I want to connect the NAS and my main PC via 10Gbe ethernet so I can edit across network.
Can I setup my main PC to remain on the WiFi network, but also have it able to connect to the NAS via ethernet?

After Russian missile attacks on the Ukrainian power infrastructure, we have ROLLING BLACKOUTS (the power is turned on and off every 4 hours).
I need a low-budget UPS that would ALERT my Synology DS220+ (USB/LAN) and supply enough power for a safe shutdown.
NAS would be the only device connected to the UPS. I won't need access to the NAS during a power outage. All I need is a safe NAS shutdown.
DS220+ PSU is rated as 60W (12V 5A).
BTW, if there are some decent UPS devices with 12 volt DC output, that works for me, too.
Synology would be the only device, so there's no need to convert 230V (mains) to 12V (UPS battery), then back to 230V (UPS out) and back to 12V (Synology input)
To sum up:
- UPS for Synology DS220+ safe automatic shutdown
- output: 230V or DC 12V
- consumption: 60W for 10 min shutdown (max)
Extra:
- power switch (preventing unnecessary NAS start-ups)

Hi! I'm starting a real estate development company. We share files ranging from simple wor documents and excel workbooks, to CAD files, and photos. Ideally I would like the ability to have an email server on the NAS and be able to share all these files with clients and team members. It's a small company of less than 4 people. I was thinking Synology because of their robust software but unsure if the DS223 would be best or the DS723. Love to hear more of what you think would be best! I currently do not have a NAS and not dependent upon an existing software other than Microsoft Office 365 and Outlook.

Hi,
Hope you can help. I’m currently using hyper backup to backup my NAS to a 18TB drive, which I leave attached and it backs up every day, I don’t need to touch it, but I now need more than 18TB. I presume I can’t change the target drive midstream when full to continue, so will I need to create say a volume 2 with a separate backup, within the same storage pool? Will this affect the functions of say Plex, having data in different volumes?
I would appreciate any advise you could offer.
Many thanks in advance.
Regards
Glynn
