NAS for small start up business - Enquiries - 02-12-2023 Hi! I'm starting a real estate development company. We share files ranging from simple wor documents and excel workbooks, to CAD files, and photos. Ideally I would like the ability to have an email server on the NAS and be able to share all these files with clients and team members. It's a small company of less than 4 people. I was thinking Synology because of their robust software but unsure if the DS223 would be best or the DS723. Love to hear more of what you think would be best! I currently do not have a NAS and not dependent upon an existing software other than Microsoft Office 365 and Outlook. RE: NAS for small start up business - ed - 02-17-2023 Yes, I would recommend a plus series NAS like the DS723+ or DS220+ for your needs. They both offer more powerful hardware and advanced software features that would be well-suited for a small real estate development company that needs to share files and run an email server. For example, both of these models come with Synology's MailPlus server, which provides a full-featured email solution with a web-based interface, calendaring, and collaboration tools. They also come with Synology's File Station app, which provides an easy-to-use web interface for managing files and folders. In addition, these models offer the ability to run other applications and services that could be useful for a real estate development company. For example, you could run a VPN server to securely access your files remotely, or a web server to host a website. The DS723+ is more powerful than the DS220+, with a faster processor and more memory, so it can handle more demanding applications and support more users. However, the DS220+ is still a good option for a small company of less than four people, and it is more affordable than the DS723+. Value series such as ds223 have limited software availability. |
