Hi Guys,
Thinking of buying 2 x 20TB drives
Do you have an affiliate link for eBay?
https://www.ebay.de/itm/374552340258?hash=item57350f2722:g:dvMAAOSw9ItiKReP&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA4JC%2BYcoqMB656oR%2FXZ2yI95OGG18Cssx2%2BkUW44irjDH1tavAIquSCo5FOFLK1TsNnDv0VeKGWVU9%2F1%2FKHnTMBFz87FqoOn84hc9qKoy6E0YH%2FjRs9hwI4z%2FZ6ZA8XD0UMIiWNKd8OWDHYeE0XdOOs9Ps3mafgV4DMG7KAW0qIzXQTRbOulBnumETZ8aSIVsDb56kt%2BkIeAoR4A33KRNr%2FUwy5s%2F7R0qpF2XVqRbKZbomM2KSygL%2BZyPqGfp0Uw8LxdH50cAiuX2h3ic6X8Xm8wVVVwAPyTsoeroh01yT7nx%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR5DNovPYYQ#RETURNS_SECTION_MODULE
Also the seller suggests that there are no returns. Is this a bad option?
I am thinking between Toshiba N300 vs Seagate IronWolf Pro vs WD Red Pro vs WD Ultrastar 18TB. Which brand will you buy if you were in my shoes or it is hard to tell which one is better?
In addition, do you know great dealers with cheaper prices for Nas HDDs 18TB or 20TB in London, Uk or Germany?
Thanks,
Plamen

NAS for photographer |

I am looking for a solution for me (photographer) and my partner (therapist) for a joint data centrel.
Currently about 6 TB Raw and processed images (growing fast) and ideally a place for patient data (security).
As mac user I would like to go Thunderbolt > looking at the TVS x72xt series and the TS X64 series (T4!)
Which is best (I would load it with seagate ironwolf 8TB HDD).
Thank you very much
Andreas

my client needs a file sharing solution, synology is my choice of Hardware.
they have 3 offices in 3 different states,
i want to be able to
1, Backup every users PC to the NAS
2, have shared folders for different departments, the folder have to be synced realtime as they shhare files from the main office to the factory (these folders have to be mapped to windows explorer)
3, have a cloud backup for all their data
4, have access to their data over the internet
5, have remote management for the whole system.
so my question is,
will i have only one NAS in one site and connect the other sites to the NAS over the internet or i will have a NAS in each of the three sites and they will all sync over the internet?
hope you can help me out with a solution.

Curious. I have a DS1621XS+ and I have a leftover 8GB ram module (from 32gb upgrade) that i'd like to use in a new 1522 (now that it supports M.2 Pool in DSM 7.2!!!!) Synology lists different ram compatibility on the site, but as far as I can tell, the specs are the same. Do you know if these two are compatible?
Synology D4ES02-8G vs D4ES01-8G That is, will the 1522 accept the 8gb stick from the 1621xs+?

I am considering purchasing your recent model QNAP TS-262-4G 2-Bay Tower NAS
I have a spare m.2 ssd lying around
Can I simply just use this drive on its own to begin with in qtier mode setting and purchase another m.2 down the track.
I primarily want to use only 1 TB nvme drives as they are much faster .
I don't have any spare 2.5 inch drives lying around and this would increase the initial investment.
Thanks in advance for you assistance?

Awesome videos! My first NAS, for home server for all important docs, family photos and videos from all sources - scanned, digital cameras and camcorders, cell phones, starting to digitize old VHS-C home videos. I assemble collections and slideshows of vacations, etc., just starting some simple video editing for this purpose. Needing HDMI capability to connect and watch on TV. Noise may be a consideration since it will be right there. Would want to be accessible to family members in other locations to view, would want to restrict access to invited people only, further restrict access to financial docs to my wife and self. Current data is about 1TB but expecting to grow, especially videos. I am thinking 2 bay in RAID 1 config, with some backup ability (external drive? not excited about cloud). $500 is NAS only, might stretch a little, realize I need disks also, would consider SSD. Thank you!

I keep going back and forth between buying a prebuilt NAS or DIY NAS (I'm sure this is subject you get constantly).
On the one hand I have built a gaming pc before so I'm not afraid of building, and I see how building made pc gaming leagues better for me. On the other hand having apps on my phone to easily access Qnap sounds very convenient.
Main focus if to host Jellyfin server, hold first level of image backups (then send to outside cloud routinely), store Steam Library, and have ability to use as a home-lab.
Also want to access outside of network (can currently access jellyfin remotely) so security is also a big factor.
