Jellyfin on Synology DS920+ - Fresh101 - 04-10-2023

Hello everyone, I’ve been watching numerous videos on YouTube from NASCompares and I just finished installing Jellyfin exactly how it’s suggested in the video that was uploaded 1 month ago. I can acces my media and have organized everything within my server but when I tried to access it thru the Jellyfin mobile app or Swiftfin app it says it cannot connect. Can someone please help with the rest of the setup to access the media externally from my local network? Thanks in advance

Note: in my network settings, I setup ExpressVPN using OpenVPN instruction on my NAS if that matters. Thanks again for any help

Check your network settings: Make sure that you have properly configured port forwarding on your router to allow external access to your Jellyfin server. You should forward the external port (e.g., 8096) to the internal port (e.g., 8096) on your NAS. You can check your router's manual or online resources for instructions on how to do this.

Check your firewall settings: Make sure that your firewall is not blocking incoming traffic to the Jellyfin server. You may need to create an exception in your firewall settings to allow traffic on the port you have specified for Jellyfin.

Check your DNS settings: If you are trying to access your Jellyfin server from outside your local network, you will need to use your external IP address or domain name to connect. You can check your external IP address by visiting a website like whatismyip.com. If you have a domain name, make sure that it is properly configured to point to your external IP address.

Check your VPN settings: If you are using a VPN on your NAS, make sure that it is properly configured to allow external access to your Jellyfin server. You may need to create a VPN profile that includes the port forwarding rules for Jellyfin.
