How to confirm which drive stores QTS OS + apps |

Recently upgraded from a single-drive QNAP TS-112 to TS-253D with 2 x 1TB NVMe (on a QM2-2P-244A) and 2 x 1 TB WD Red SSDs (on a QDA-A2AR, RAID 1) and a single WD Red Pro HDD.
For the initial setup, I installed *only* the 2 x 1 TB WD Red SSDs (on a QDA-A2AR, set for RAID 1) and followed your video for setting up a QNAP and updating QTS and apps without connecting to the internet.
I understand that the updated QTS will be stored on the 2 x 1 TB WD Red SSDs, but how can I verify this? And I assume that apps downloaded from QNAP's "App Center" will get installed on the same drive, but how can I make sure? I want the OS and apps running from SSD.

Hi Guys, thank you for all your support and advice it’s been very helpful. I’m moving from a Drobo 5N2 and have decided to choose a Synology Nas. I’ve been looking at the DS1821+ and want to use SHR so I can partly populate it with some of my existing WD red pro NAS drives which are only a couple of years old. After seeing the new DS 1821XS I thought I may have gone for this but discovered it doesn’t support SHR. Do you think this means Synology won’t be bringing out an upgraded 8 bay DS1821+ box supporting SHR in the near future? I know this is a bit of a guessing game with Synology but wondered if you may have heard any rumours or have any advice. I’ve waited a year so far but will have to upgrade soon. Many thanks Sandy.

Replacing a WD MyCloud and a PC |

Good Morning,
I have a (currently offline due to WD Outages) 6TB MyCloud Home which is 4.5TB full, and an older (2015) Windows 10 PC which runs NVR Software for my CCTV. I am looking to massively beef up my NAS solution as theMyCloud was so slow and would frequently crash Finder and File Explorer due to WD's software. I need a NAS which can hold Documents, Movies, Music, Photos, and videos. I'm also looking for one which can be used as an NVR with Reolink Cameras and stream video over the network via Plex or something similar. I'd love to be able to edit 4Kvideos from it but that might not be possible.
I was thinking about upgrading to 2.5GBE in my house now that I have Gigabit internet and nothing can take full advantage of its speed. I was looking at Synology and they don't have anything which is 2.5GBE unless you get the 10GBE NIC for it.
I am thinking about a DS1522+, or failing that a custom build with TrueNAS. What would you recommend in my scenario?
Thanks,
James.

4 of my relatives are coming over for holiday from America, I watched your video about mobile routers but don’t think I’ll be needing anything particularly advanced to future proof myself as I currently don’t have the need for it. I need a substantial amount of data for what they have planned so I would like to ask for advice on where to find the best deal I can get sim-wise and which mobile router I should get. Thank you!

Hi there, I’ve been watching your videos for a week now! so thanks a lot for the quality content!
Im buying my first NAS and I believe that the asustor driverstor 4 will do most of the work I need, but not too sure. Whats been buging me is the ability to use different drives on synology platform so yeah not that sure if I should lower the capacity and get synology or go with the asustor.
thanks a lot!

Hello everyone, I’ve been watching numerous videos on YouTube from NASCompares and I just finished installing Jellyfin exactly how it’s suggested in the video that was uploaded 1 month ago. I can acces my media and have organized everything within my server but when I tried to access it thru the Jellyfin mobile app or Swiftfin app it says it cannot connect. Can someone please help with the rest of the setup to access the media externally from my local network? Thanks in advance
Note: in my network settings, I setup ExpressVPN using OpenVPN instruction on my NAS if that matters. Thanks again for any help

I have a Synology DS920+ that i bought watching your videos for a media server. I installed the Plex and it works fine but wanted to try Jellyfin as it’s a none paying app. I am currently using a OpenVPN connections on my NAS from ExpressVPN, if you need to know this info. Also, I have installed the Jellyfin like your video suggested but now I am trying to figure out how to access the media using the Jellyfin Mobile App or the Swiftfin and I cannot access maybe because wrong server ip address or something. Can you please help finish setting up? I don’t mind paying or contributing for the video in order to help others.

Shallow rack mount UPS |

Hi,
first off I really enjoy your videos, and find them very useful and informative.
I currently have a 12U 450mm deep network rack in my attic, containing a Synology DS918+, a Unifi Dream Machine Pro, and a Unifi 16 port PoE switch. In the future I may end up adding in some AV kit.
I'm looking for a rack mounted UPS to provide some battery backup for these. I'd be looking for one that's fairly shallow in depth. In terms of run time, I don't think I require very much - just a few minutes for the Synology to be safely shut down.
The rack - https://www.pennelcomonline.com/en/Penn-Elcom-Wall-Mount-Rack-Enclosure-12U-450mm1772-Inch-Deep-1032-Rack-Rail-Black-Perforated-Door-R6412V-1032/m-9270.aspx
I hope that you are able to help!
