Hello, first of all thank you for all the information you provide on your website, it is very useful.
I wanted to ask if the Synology NAS that have SAS hdd connection as for example my ds1821+ have support for SAS or only for SATA, because I do not understand that the NAS has SAS connection but Synology indicates that only supports SATA.
Thank you very much

NAS for Plex |

WD My Cloud is driving me mad as Plex server...I would like something that can transcode and be accessible both at home and when I am abroad. I dont have immediate needs beyond Plex and back up of music files/photos a so I dont need huge capacity. I am Ok with fairly simple IT so I was thinking Terrmaster F2-423 and 6TB storage - is that overkill? Should I split the storage between some SSD and a hard disk? Thanks for your help and your Tube channel is great!

Help me choose the right NAS |

Hello,
I'm looking to buy my first NAS. My budget cap is around 500€ and that does not include drives. Currently I have my eye on Synology DS423+ or the Asustor as5304t. My primary use would be to use the server as a 4k capable media server and maybe add some surveillance cameras into it as well. Also I might host some docker applications for home use.
Also should I buy SSD drives instead of HDD? I would like the NAS to be quiet as I live in a 1 room apartment.
Any recommendations?

Hi gents!
I bought a CyberPower Value Pro VP1600ELCD - UPS - 960 Watt - 1600 VA. When I connect the USB cable to my Qnap TVS-1288x I can see if and I can change some settings like shutdown when AC power fails. It will shutdown but when power is back on again it won't start up.
Any idea?
I want a UPS that can boot up again as well because I have it on a remote location.

Hi there, I have purchased the dns 1550, this is my first venture into the nas environment, it is for my home studio, I have setup the system, and can do minor tasks on it, but really I needed to be able to use the iscsi service to store all my large projectnfiles on, I'm kind of lost at the minute and really would like to have a walk through if possible, on properly configuring my nas

SSD with heatsinks |

Hi Nes, big fan of your channel but I'm a total noob when it comes to tech, I've watched almost all your reviews on new Gen4 SSDs with heatsinks espcially fpr the PS5, what would be the best combination of a SSD and heatsink that you would recommend based on the best performance and importantly operating temperatures as well. After watching your videos I've come to conclude that the best heatsink would probably be either the Elugear or Sebrent? Would you recommend pairing those with the Samsung 990 pro 2tb? and which heatsink would you choose personally? Or would you have an even better combo to recommend me. Thank you so much in advance and please keep up the amazing work you are doing! Cheers! Gavin

I have a Synology 1219+. Currently using Synology native media player/converter. Data storage for multiple systems, mostly Apple, Linux and PC and home media access. No desire to remotely access however, future option desirable. Looking to convert saved video from Dish Network on their DVR and external HD to store on the NAS. Advice on how to do that and whether I should have a separate NAS, add this to existing or use an idle Mac Mini. What software should I consider. Gotcha’s, issues, costs and so forth appreciated.
