DS1821+ with 64mb Ram - effect on Maximum Volume Size?

If I increase the memory on my DS1821+ to 64gb is it then possible to increase the Volume size beyond 100tb to say 200tb?
If so, can this be done with the existing current Volume? Should I happen to expand the storage pool appropriately in the future. Larger drives are becoming more commonplace and will be great if or when I start to run out of storage space.
I’m only thinking of future proofing long-term really, nothing immediate. Right now it might be possible to load up the DS1821+ with 8 24tb drives = a 192tb storage pool. Might be nice to have this in one large Volume?
Thanks

I have a Synology DS223J. When powered on, I get a blue flashing light, and nothing else.
Synology UK are not interested!
Can I get a replacement motherboard, repair, anything?
Or do I just throw it away and start again?
Help!!!

Home Office NAS with NVME or DATA SSDs

I discussed Home Office plus Home NAS among friends and came up with needs and surprisingly found no product. A NAS built into Homelab, say Truenas over Proxmox with following features...high processor and RAM to handle both Homelab, office and home loads, works without airconditioner, low power consumption using NVME or SSD drives, has high capacity and is extensible by using an external chassis box (using either pcie or thunderbolt 4) holding more drives. Would like to see you discussing this on YouTube.

Hi there
I moved form a Synology 10 year old NAS to this QNAP one a year ago. Steep learning curve but loving it so far. Question: QNAP customer service are a bit rubbish but essentially looking to change the sys fans and the cpu fan. sys fan can easily be changed to Noctua 92mm ones. However, I was wondering if I can change the CPU one to a 60mm Noctua as I have the i5 version, sunning full SSD's. Would it hamper performance/thermals? Basically looking for efficiency and noise reduction.
I look forward to hearing from you.

DS923+ and WD Blue drives

Wanted to get into a NAS for home backup - Windows and MAC and maybe Plex to my appleTVs in the house.
I just bought a DS923+ with 4 x 4TB drives. Looking back at the amazon page where I ordered it - it does not state the drives type or manufacturer. When I received it and opened it this morning I found 4 Western Digital Blue Drives - WD40EZAX drives made in January 2024.
Should I return the unit and buy one that is drive-less and then buy my own drives??? Would this be ok for a home environment??? Did I get taken - I have 30 days to return it
Thanks

I have a Mac with BigSur OS (11.7.10) that has been connected to a Promise Pegasus R4 NAS for about 5 years, suddenly 3 out of 4 disks have failed and I'm desperate... I would like advice on which NAS to buy between Synology and QNAP with 4 disks of 4 or 5 or 6 TB each. What I ask from your experience is which of the two gives greater guarantees on durability over time. I don't care about speed or loudness but which of the two is more likely to not suddenly leave me with my ass on the ground. Thank you.
