Hello, so i am music producer for an while now, and my music now for 2-3 laptops, was constantlly getting limited by cpu power, i just desided to get zenbook14 amd version, to finally have enouthg room to make big songs! But i woundered about this nas thing, for example how cude i save all files its about i feel like 300gp+ like my flstudio plugins and banks of presets in to this nas so i cude then eazy acces it on my new laptop i gona get, and maybe later on even newer pc. Is it possible to like set it up so my flstudio just reconise all plugins and presrts inside my nas or whill i have to download everything frome nas first? If u can suggest me cheap, but like good enouthg power nas whit like i think like 3tb would be pleny i feel like even 1 would be enouthg and i seen u can use ssds for cashe tell me in simple worlds is it worth for my problem here? It would not recognize a Evo 970 1TB, but did recognize a Evo 980 1TB. Even though it is recognized in the bios, there seems to be no way to set it to boot from nvme?

I really love the channel and the site and have been doing research for over a year on and off, tossing around ideas on what I want to do. I don't want to pay for Plex Pass on principle. I shouldn't have to pay for HW transcode. I'm not sure if I want to go with a shield pro or another route.

I've been streaming to my HiSense U8K in another room using my personal computer (3900X, 2080 Super, 2x16 GB 3600 Mhz 16-16-16-36 RAM and HGST 4 TB HDD) over WIFI, without issues. It direct plays the content. I want something that doesn't depend on my PC being on and I want the files to be network accessible.

I've been using "watch together" to stream to someone. We speak on the phone during this and some days the sync is very off, while others it's fine.

One external stream at a time is the most I intend on, and it doesn't need to be 4K & HEVC capable, but would be great if affordable. I plan to upgrade to 16 TB RAID10 in the future. What would be the most budget-concious way to achieve this?

I’m upgrading my Terramaster F2-212 2 bay Nas that has a 8TB and a 4TB HDD with Plex data on them to the F4-424 pro 4 bay Nas and I’m adding a empty 16TB and 12TB HDD along with the 2 HDDs from my F2-212 with the Plex data and media on them my problem is how do I , or do I need to back up my Plex data and media so I don’t lose it when I switch to the F4-424 pro

Are there any Nvme DIY kits/builds for creating a home nas?

I'd like to create an SSD NAS , and have decided that nvme is a better option than SAS or SATA.

I've also seen the Asustor Flashstor NAS, but worried that the processor might not be beafed-enough to run dockers like photoprism etc.

Thus I've started to look at nvme NAS' in the range of €300-1000 and not alot of options out there.

I have seen stuff like ICYDOCKS ToughArmor MB873MP-B V2, but they talk about Oculinks etc that I have no idea about.

Which brings me back to question, are there any nvme DIY kits/builds that someone starting out in NAS, would be able to build?

First let me say how very informative your videos and content is, thank you very much!

I play with various NAS's and enjoy them all. Right now I'm having the most fun with older ones and a fairly new TS-453E.

I would like to humbly ask for an update video on the 453E and also on QNAP in general. I hope QNAP are paying you for the advice you gave them! It appears they took you very seriously so keep it up!

I also ask to report the new beta of the OS that has a bitblocker built in, really cool (again I credit you for the pressure).

QNAP as a company are entirely different in the last few years. There have been at least 6 updates and many app updates. The new beta has speed improvements and other things.

When you reviewed the 453E it really helped me think about it. To me it is the best value for what it does and QTier on the faster M2 slots is sweet. QTier being both a cache and a pool is really a nice feature.

I just read your review on the D-Link DWR and I am totally sold. However, I can only find two in the US for 2x the cost of the same in the UK. I was just wondering if it's not possible to use it over here. I even went on the D-Link website to see where I could purchase it and when I selected the US for point of sale it gave me nothing. I'd like to just purchase over there through amazon if I can, but I wanted to see if you knew of any issues using it in the US. Furthermore, do you have an amazon store I could purchase through, or if I go through the you tube link does that earn you any sort of commission? Good morning (for me anyway),
I currently have a DS1821+ configured as follows:

8 drives 4 x 8TB, 4 x 16 TB, SHR-2, BTFS

The 4 x 16Tb drives replaced 4 x 8Tb drives which remain perfectly serviceable.

My question:
- Do we think its better to eventually replace the remaining 4 x 8TB drives with 4 x 24TB drives and keep leapfrogging sets (whilst only having 8 drives; OR
- Perhaps purchase a DX517 and populate that with the currently idle 4 x 8Tb drives?

Are there any performance considerations with spreading the pool across two devices, etc.?
