I'm planning to buy a 2TB SSD for my PS5 and have settled on the Seagate FireCuda 530. Could you help me decide which heatsink would be best to use with it? Your advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Currently my NAS is next to my Home Lab and I need to separate it, I currently use an MS-01 with NVME for storage, but I want to build a future-proof NAS, initially with 100TB, but with expansion capacity, I thought about doing something using the Jonsbo N5 as soon as it launches, I thought about using it precisely to be future-proof, since I don't imagine changing everything for the next 5 years, and the amount of disks will grow quickly since I edit video files.

Hi everyone,
I’m running out of space on my Synology DS220+ and am unsure whether I should upgrade to a larger NAS or simply add external storage via USB. How would adding external storage impact performance, and is it a better long-term solution compared to upgrading?
Thanks for your input!

Hello Ed
Hope you are doing good.
I have an idea for a NASCompares video..
Do a video regarding my Plex-problem.
If it lags when I stream large 4k movies with plex
.. on tv from the computer that has amd ryzen 7 7700 cpu, 16gb, and nvidia 1050 gtx card and 1gbit network ...
and the 4k movie wont even start, just get an connection mess.
What is the problem then?
Too slow network and should upgrade? ...or too slow computer...?
Have no problem streaming 1080p...
On the computer, yes, I can watch 4k without problems... .
Thoughts and comments welcome...
greetings
Andreas

My NAS Asustor flashstor 12 lives a low stress life. total file transfers to NAS pr day is normaly less then 10GB. Plex use mabye 5 to 10 hours a week.
I want to rebuild nas from using 5 x 1 TB m.2 nvme drives and start with 3 x 4 TB m.2 nvme.
These drives for NAS are whery expensive in Norway.
But with my "workload" i was thinking of using
Crucial P3 4 TB M.2 PCI Express 3.0 NVMe 3D NAND.
In your opinion and thinking long term is that a whery bad choise ?
Thank you !
Excuse my spelling
Fred.

Hi
My history is that for some years I have used and still running a Synology DS211+ 2 bay unit, and it is really at its end of life. So, I'm looking to upgrade and need some expert knowledge on the Synology products. I currently use the NAS for photo storage and document storage. I have been looking at the RS1619xs+ and like the specs. I currently have a server rack HP 10642 42U and would like to go the RS way. One of my main concerns is VM and the license around this. But my main question at this stage is " Is it worth waiting for the possibly RS1625xs+" as the RS1619xs+ cpu came out in 2015. It's a rather big investment and any further information would help.
The items I have been looking at are:
RS1619XS+
Rail kit RKS-02
ST16000NM001G - 2KK103 x 4 (It looks like the compatibility list runs behind new and available drives my preference would be ST24000NM002H but it not on the list)
Built-in M.2 Slot now I’m thinking of Samsung 990 Pro 4TB M.2 NVMe but this may be just a wish

Hi
I bought a Qnap Desktop NAS TS-453D-8G 4-Bay RAID (8GB RAM) + PCIe + 2.5G back from you in 2020 Order ID : 81365.
One of the HDD is now showing an error in the form of bad blocks and is recommending replacement. The drive came with 4 of Seagate IronWolf (NAS) ST2000VN004 3.5" SATA 6Gb/s 2TB 5900rpm. I am only looking at replacing the one failing drive.
Can you please give me a recommendation ?
Thanks for your help

Hi, I’m getting 4-6 poe cameras taking advantage of the NAS I have planned for so long to get.
I’m not getting an nvr, it costs way more of what I can afford plus I need a real NAS for Plex and file storage and I don’t think all that deep analytics is necessary for a home owner. I think I just need movement and recording upon detection and zone selection, correct me if I am wrong pls.
1) I want to understand what capabilities to expect from surveillance station on a normal NAS.
2) what are the minimum requirements for a NAS to handle at the same time cameras, media consumption, file sharing, photo managing and maybe a pihole in a docket container? Would a 2020 dual core be enough? Quad core? ds223j too weak?
3) in order to assess my pool drive, how much space should I consider for camera use? Considering recording only on movement and deletion after a couple of days I imagine.
Thank you
