I am researching the Synology DS1522+ 5-Bay NAS and am confused by the Compatible Device listings on the Amazon sales page.
The Synology DS1522+ 5-Bay Desktop NAS, the Synology 5-bay DiskStation DS1522+, and the Synology 5-Bay DiskStation DS1522+ & M.2 2280 NVMe SSD SNV3410 ect., all only list the Desktop as the "Compatible Device." Whereas the Synology 4-bay NAS DiskStation DS920+ lists the "Compatible Devices" as "Smartphone, Television, Laptop, Desktop, Camera." I have included a screenshot.
Is it really the case that only the the Synology 4-bay NAS DiskStation DS920+ is compatible with mobile phones, or is this something entirely different? The Synology DS1522+ documentation only talks about Compatibility in terms of the kinds of hard drives you can use. It does say that you can "Access through web browsers, desktop clients, or mobile apps". But it does not specify what kind of DS1522+ it is talking about.
Any insight you can provide would be sincerely appreciated.
I have purchased a second hand QNAP TS-412.
(containing x4 3TB WD red drives)
How can I run the setup routine to configure this device.
I can see it in QFINDER but I have to enture it manualy as it doesn't find it on its own.
I can log into the NAZ with a browser using its i/p address and then into the admin page.
I then get this error,
System has detected that your DNS server can't resolve hosts, and some applications might not work properly.
Please go to " System Administration > Network > TCP/IP " , and check if you have entered the valid DNS server. If you are not sure what to use, please contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and ask for the correct information.
No matter what I do I can only get as far as this.
I have tried entering fixed i/p address's and fixed DNS but nothing works.
I’ve been troubleshooting intermittent loss of internet. I have Deco X55 x3, Main hooked to Cable modem and two others creating a wireless mesh in my home. Whenever I connect the DS920+ to the Deco (directly or through a switch) I get intermittent drops in my internet connection. Tech support from China has been a struggle due to hours and language. Tech emailed me today and said
"I guess that the NAS sent a flow control pause frame to Deco, which caused Deco to enter the flow control state. You can consult the technical support of NAS to see if there is a way to make NAS not to send pause frames. "
Does this make any sense? If so, any recommendations of how should I change my DSM networking settings? Currently running DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 5
I am an amateur photographer and I am looking to upgrade my file storage. Right now I have harddrives with photos on them most less than 1Tgb most 500 gig yes older ones.. I am going to buy new nas type hard drives mostly likely 4 gig.
My concern is do I buy aAsustor Drivestor 4 AS1104T - 4 Bay NAS with 1 gig of DDR4 ram
TERRAMASTER F4-210 4-Bay NAS 2GB RAM Quad Core Network Attached Storage Media Server
Please could you let me know if it's possible to upgrade my DS920+ to 2.5gbe.
If this is not possible which would you recommend, I like the look of the Qnap TS-464 hardware but Synology software is so much better and Nas's run quieter.
Hi, I'm looking to upgrade my ageing DS213j and I'm struggling to decide between these 2 NAS enclosures. I don't need transcoding so the 923 seems like the better purchase due its expandability or am I being too simplistic? Does the 923 perform better than the 423 when running docker? My current NAS is used to store music, pics and movies streaming to devices at home over WiFi. However I really want to use docker and get more out of my NAS. Apart from transcoding does the 423 still have the superior CPU? I believe the recommended RAM on the 423 can be exceeded albeit not officially supported so I'm unsure if the 923 has any advantage in that dept. The final thought is I'm unlikely to need any more than 32tb BUT it'd be nice to futureproof the device as much as possible. That said the 423 can't use the Synology expansion module but does allow 72tb Vs the 50tb on the 923. As you can probably tell I'm trying myself in knots ?
Hello I am looking for a budget nas primarily for surveillance home use.
I need cameras that are wireless because where they’re going to go on the property there’s no power.
I have a wired MR2200ac router, and a second/mesh/wifi MR2200ac. How do I access the web interface on the *second/mesh* router? When I go into CONTROL PANEL--SYSTEM in my web browser, only the settings for the main router seem to be listed. Thanks in advance for your help with this.
Hey watched your video about the QNAP TS-453E vs Synology DS920+ NAS 4 Bay saw that Synology has a new one out called the ds923+ & DS423+.
Ideally, I just need a place to securely store my video podcasts and then videos for some work and film projects over life.
I have 0 knowledge about NAS systems but I do like the idea of being able to work remotely from my NAS system as that'd be great, not sure if that's possible on my budget or not.
I use a 16 inch Macbook Pro so I do like the idea of accompanying software to be easy to install and use.
