I want to upgrade my computer so that I can better use my old Synology DS1618+ as a cloud server. Running plex for example. What do you recommend for hardware configuration? Processor, RAM and etc. I have become quite obsolete. LOL Dell is my preferred vendor.

To optimize your computer for better utilization of your Synology DS1618+ as a cloud server and running Plex, consider a hardware configuration with a Ryzen CPU like the DS1821+ for local streaming. If you require remote 4K transcoding in Plex, an i5 CPU such as the QNAP TVS-874 would be suitable. Around 8GB of RAM is sufficient, and running the operating system on an SSD will provide performance benefits.
