Broken QNAP TS-431 with RAID 5

Hi, I have my QNAP TS-431, which is turning on for a while, start resyncing and then a couple of beeps and off again. This is happening awhile ago. There is no error, there is no log, just te beeps.
I was wondering if I can buy a Terramaster NAS and pop up my disks over there, do I have a chance to rebuild my RAID 5 over there?
Or is it better to just buy another QNAP NAS to get it working again?
Or maybe Im just screw and I can no longer access to my data?
PS: when QNAPs boots up, I can access to the data, is right there! I blow all the dust away, When I did that worked the same, then I factory reset (no format) and it worked for a couple of days... I was thinking to use som contact cleaner...
Please help!!!

QNAP TS Hybrid Sync Failure

Hi,
I have a daily backup up configured from the TS 464 using Hybrid Sync to a directly attached hard drive. The backup up runs successfully everyday on schedule.
However I am trying to use simple versioning to create multiple versions of the backup. Although an up to date backup coy is created each time that the job runs this replaces the previous copy and multiple copies are never created even though Version Management is enables.
The error message is Warning 2023-07-04 11:16:05 System 192.168.1.106 Web Desktop Hybrid Backup Sync Custom Job Event [Hybrid Backup Sync] Finished Backup job "Daily Backup to LaCie" with errors. Failed to create multiple versions for backup.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

New Synology NAS

I have had a Synology NAS DS216+II 8TB for many years as an offline storage which works fine.
Despite the offline facility having fast ethernet/Fibre (200mbps download and 30mbps upload - even across 4G the video and even picture playback is slow.
My own Fibre is not as good - 38mbps download but only 6mbps upload.
I am wondering if the new Synology NAS DS723 would improve this in any way?
Clearly the bottleneck for home connect for syncing my PC with the NAS (6mbps upload) but it is very slow. Max 1Mb/s sync'ing currently.
Or what else would you recommend?
Is it easy to keep the same account and swap the physical Synology NAS?
Thanks

DS3622xs+ memory

Hi Robbie,
My current DS3622xs+ is populated with a total of 32gb of memory (4x8gb), but I would like to pull 2 of the 8gb sticks and drop in another 64gb for a total of 80gb. First, is this possible using the v-color ram as shown on the unofficial memory upgrade guide.
Second, is there anything I need to do as I swap out the 2x8 and put in the 2x16 or 2x32 memory sticks? I have tried a number of memory units but the server would not boot as i tried to upgrade it beyond a total of 32gb.
I am wondering if there is something akin to a BIOS that needs to be reset to see that the ram quantity has changed.
thanks!

Hi there, I'm looking to possibly add a NAS system to the main media storage for my audio and video collections; I'm not exactly sure what software programs are available on NAS systems, but I currently use the Apple iTunes now music app to organize my audio collection I'm not sure if those apps are available on a NAS system. I would like to use Plex or whatever the best option would be for the video collection. I would also like to monitor my home's security cameras; I currently use Wyze cam V3, Wyze pan cam V2, and Wyze outdoor cams. Family members in other states and countries will also use the system. I have some above-average technical skills but wouldn't consider myself an expert. A variety of operating systems will be used to access the content (Mac OS, IOS, Android, and Windows).
Thank you in advance for your help.

NAS for Plex Media

Hi there
Home user here looking to begin hosting my data myself and reduce and eventually eliminate reliance on third party cloud services.
My uses and preferences are as below:
1. Storage for media to run a Plex Server. Planning to play, at the top end, 4k Dolby Digital Atmos H.264/HEVC movies and shows.
2. Storage to back up my household's digital life.
3. Looking for a device that can be out in the open in the living room appearance wise - I don't believe sound will be an issue.
From my own research I've considered getting a Synology DS920+ or a DS923+ but I'm torn on which device to get. I'm also looking at 4 bays for increasing storage in the future.
Look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Many thanks
A.

Data Scrubbing on My Cloud PR4100? Possible upgrade?

I was talking to my uncle about his spectacular multi-state NAS redundancy setup with multiple My Cloud PR4100 units and asked him about his Data Scrubbing schedule. To my surprise, he didn't understand the question.
I found the PR4100 manual and there was no mention of Data Scrubbing. Does the My Cloud range do automatic scrubbing? Or does it even do any scrubbing?
If you were to do an incremental upgrade away from WD My Cloud, what would you suggest for a person that uses Plex a lot to show off new videos of their grandchildren's school sports games?

I was looking heavily into a DS1522+. I watched your 30 minute video on YouTube and it was very informative!
My problem was the NVMe and RAM compatibility list on Synology's website. They only say they're compatible with Synology NVMe and RAM. That's starts to get hella-expensive. For instance, the NVMe cache size gets cut in half for double the price.
I'm not stuck on Synology.
Again, my main use will be lots of movie storage and streaming them to my TV through the Plex app, playing with containerization, and possibly hosting things for my friends like a Foundry server. I'm all about extra cache and sparing no expense, but damn those Synology prices are just wow.

I read that the 1821+ is capable of creating a SSD Strorage pool from DSM 7.2 and on.
Now i have 1 3400 SSD as Cache
Do i need 2 SSD's?
How do ik "delete" the caching and make a SSD storage pool.
Will the system b much faster?
