I am wandering would this be the same for theAsustor flash nas. can you please make a video on this for me we'll be much appreciate it or provide me a like a step by step called awesome instructions would be great also

Secondly I wondering if I purchased 2 Asus flash store nas The first one would be used as a primary use and the second one as the backup. I am wondering if my primary Nas get damaged therefore I was required to replace it for a third one can you explain how i can restore the file from the backup nas and use my new nas as my primary nas I would b

  NAS 923+ VS 1522+
Posted by: Enquiries - 06-14-2024, 04:35 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Hello
I'd like to buy a NAS to sync my devices and set up a mediaserver for 3-5 users. and maybee host a blog/simple homepage some time in the future
at the moment i could buy a new 1522+ for CHF 716.00 without Drives but i have some dirves and need just to buy 1*4TB to get 6.3TB in usable space with SHR
or i just saw a used 923+ with 4*4TB IronWolf for CHF 800 which was about a year in use and is still under warranty till 6/19/2025
which one would you buy?

  Home/Small buisness NAS
Posted by: Enquiries - 06-13-2024, 09:35 AM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Hi guys,
I've watched a heap of your videos and being a bit a tech geek, I get what you're saying on each video but after watching multiple videos, I'm still asking myself which NAS I need (regardless of NAS company).
I'm more than capable of building my own NAS but I'm time poor. I was after an all in one solution for my needs. Small business backup, kids photos backup, Raid redundincies, software capable (cloud photos, file access, plex for media room etc).

With your knowledge of NAS systems, I was hoping you would have a video on this type of system as I thought it would suit most home/small business users.

I don't care which company that it comes from, what i'm after is....... This is what you need to buy in 2024 to cover what you need .
Do I need 10Gbps for small business back up and possibly streaming media (possibly transcoding), can I get away with 1Gbps for what I require.
I'm happy to spend a reasonal amount of money but i'm not spending 2.5K on a NAS for home

  Synology vs DIY NAS
Posted by: Enquiries - 06-13-2024, 08:35 AM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

I am looking to purchase a NAS drive for home use to store family photos, videos, Movies, documents and backups.

I was comparing the Synology DS 423+ and the DS 923+. I am also open to create a similar form factor DIY solution with comparable performance or better.

For storage I was debating between 4x 6TB WD RED Plus HDDs with 1 drive raid redundancy similar to Synology SHR. Would you be able to assist in choose the ideal solution. I do have a seperate virtualisation micro pc which i can use for dockers and virtual machines.

  My first NAS
Posted by: Enquiries - 06-12-2024, 07:35 AM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (3)

Hello,

Help please. A friend gave me their old NAS but the new Plex is incompatible with it apparently. I'd like to get a new one that can store my videos and music. I already have 2 WD 4TB Red plus NAS HDDs.
I use Plex and PlexAmp on my computer currently, but would like to move all the Movies, TV shows, and music to a NAS so I'm not running the server on my computer.
I use a PS4 to watch the shows I have through the Plex app, but am open to using just the NAS if possible. For music I use a Raspberry Pi loaded with Volumio that can access the Plex server. I've looked at the QNAP AND Synology but am open to any other brand. Too many choices!

Must haves:
Easy to navigate interface. (Either PS4 controller or phone app)
Remote access (to listen to music on my phone)
HDMI out

Nice to have:
Storage for Photos as well. (1-2TB)
Quite when running
Energy efficient
Optical Audio Out (unless HDMI has replaced that as the best quality)

Thanks

  Narrowing down
Posted by: Enquiries - 06-12-2024, 03:35 AM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Hello, I've been watching the channel for a while now, and I absolutely love the content and I'm thankful for the amount of time you put in it. I figured doing my own research would help me figure out what I want and not waste your time.
No dockers or VM ever. Currently no surveillance, but thinking about it later. If I do then probably 1080p-4k cameras maybe 4 at most. Only use case is Jellyfin server and personal backup of files. Typically movies are 1080p and rarely 2k. Typically I watch movies from a handful of drives. Dont plan to change but rarely at max 2 simultaneously streams would be useful as I travel places. Even then I'll probably offload a 2tb nvme and probably rarely ever use streaming. Just good to have. Looking at Synology ds1621+, gives me room for future, SHR is amazingly awesome, the xs model is cool but overpriced for me. Better options? Would the 1621+ support enough GPU resources for 1-2 encoding streams or enough for 1-2 native playback? Too old age for 1621?

DIY NAS (Jonsbo N2 or N3)
Posted by: Enquiries - 06-12-2024, 02:35 AM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Hi, I'm following your guide to build the Nas on JONSBO N3, I prefer the I5 option but i'd like to stay away from REALTEK NICs since they Wake On Lan and other options are really bad, i couldn't find the SATA multiplier board on amazon Alternatives?
I'm currently running Truenas on an old notebook with broken screen and 2 USB adapters for 3.5" disks, it's working OK but I'd like to build a proper NAS, therefore your recommendations & advice are greately appreciated
