Dear Sir
I require a new NAS unit to replace my old DROBO N5. I was expanding this unit at the time that DROBO collapsed and have laid of adding any data to it as it is no longer supported.
The DROBO N5 contains 5 disks as below 4 being new. Any recommendations to replace this unit would be welcome?
And are these Disks suitable for new units
New WD Green 2.0TB SATA/ 64MB Cache WD20EZRX
New WD Green 2.0TB SATA/ 64MB Cache WD20EZRX
New WDl Red PLus WD20EFZX SATA 6Gb/s NX HA 510 NASware3.0
Old TOSHIBA DT01ACA100 1.0TB Oct 2015
New WD Red PLus WD20EFZX SATA 6Gb/s NX HA 510 NASware3.0
6.30 TB Capacity
I would be looking for a new cloud connection as the one I have (Elephant Drive) is not the easiest to use or afford.
Hope you can help great videos by the way.

Hi,
I wanna get a NAS and I want to be able to use it for video editing. The Main question I have is which NAS would be the main recommendation for my use case.
I have done some researching myself and I am personally looking at the rs1221+ and the UNAS Pro.
I only really intend to use the NAS for storage, which is why the latter is an option IMO and quiet good budget wise. The main Concern I have is the weaker CPU in the UNAS Pro not being sufficient to saturate the full 10GB sfp+ connection

I’m setting up my TerraMaster F6-F424 Max. First I installed four new 24 TB WD Red NAS HDDs and two used 12 TB WD Gold HDDs. The TerraMaster would not boot up for initial install. No lights on the Ethernet connections on unit or router. Removed the used HDDs, which were working fine in the older TerraMaster NAS I own, and the F6 booted like a dream. Live and learn.

Hi Guys,
Was wondering if you could help me please. I've been concerned that I've been running a DS920+ now for a number of years without any real backups beyond RAID5 so have just acquired 8 x 16TB Ironwolf Pro drives from ServerPartDeals while in the USA.
With the intention of putting them into a RS1221+ and backup to the existing DS920+ albeit without backing up the entire new capacity.
It seems the Synology is now very old and is due a refresh as well as limited, 1GBE etc...
Is it unwise to look at something like a Terramaster U8-500 Plus and stick a couple of boot NVMEs in it and run TrueNAS or Unraid? Or am I asking for trouble?

I would like to extend my QNAP TS-262-4G with SSD Cache but unsure how big and how many M.2 SSD drives I should buy. Twice 1TB is a good idea? Or should it be a single 2TB? Or twice 2TB? Or a single 4TB?
The official QNAP table is very confusing for me, 2TB is indicated with a dash. Maybe it's not supported? I have go either less or more?
Would like to optimize a little bit more for performance than for price. The NAS is used for Time Machine backups and for Plex.

Hi,
im looking for a motherboard(formfactor doesnt matter) that has 6-8 SATA connectors, plenty of power to run Jellyfin immich and some more docker containers. 1-2 m.2 connectors and a nice to have would be a pcie-e slot. IPMI of BMC would be nice but is not a priority. planning to run TRUENAS on it so im going to need a lot of ram.
most of all it needs to be very power efficient, i live in the EU and eletricity is not cheap so something that draw lesss then 30W. I know that the amount of hard drives, pcie cards,... are also going to change the power draw but if the motherboard doesnt have a good pcie power management its inefficient and cant go to lower c states.
what motherboards would you recommend?
