Hello I’ve been watching your videos for about a year now. I have always wanted a NAS for Plex and for iCloud backup for my family and my phones. Tired of paying $10 a month to apple.
I also have small business that I want to get security cameras for. I have the “box store” DVRs currently. It’s a small supermarket for there would be about 20 cameras or so. Is that going to be too many?
Lastly I have a large movie library. I wanted to use Plex so my family and I could enjoy it.
I have had my eye on the DS1520+ and have looked a little at the DS1522. I think the 1520 is better for Plex correct?
My question is what would you recommend I get? I am not against getting separate ones for home and each of my businesses. I want to make sure to get the best for what I need and thought who best to ask than the guy I watch and learned everything I know about them from.
Love the videos!! Thank you so much

I've just seen one of your videos for a product I was thinking of purchasing (QNAP TS-453D-4G 4 Bay Desktop NAS Enclosure - Network Storage with 2.5GbE Connectivity, 4GB RAM, Intel Celeron Quad-Core, 2.0GHz Processor at GBP 337.45.
I would like some advice on what you think the best solution is to my problem. I have multiple 5TB and 6TB external hard drives that currently store all of my data. I would like a more robust backup for family photos and videos totalling around 6TB at the moment. I would also like to be able to connect all the mobile devices to the new storage solution in order to use it as an alternative for Google Photos / Amazon Photos.
Total number of users = approx 8. Total number of simultaneous users = approx 3.
If you need any more information, please let me know.

Can you make a tutorial video and or forward how to make email server (configure) with email server and MySQL. I have looked everywhere and none of them are conclusive, they all say bits and pieces.
I want to host my own email, should I buy a different NAS ? is it even possible with a TerraMaster f2-210?
Best regards
Jim

Hello Rob/Team...Long time watcher of your video's and invaluable tutorials so first of all, thanks.
I've been using a DS918+ with 8GB RAM and 4x10TB (one for redundancy) for a number of years. Until recently, PLEX was running on a Mac Mini and worked flawlessly for ten years but its just died so moved the whole operation to the DS918+ and now running Plex and the ARR's under Docker.
All set up and running with the aid of TRaSH guides online and for the most part am happy.
BUT, need advice on optimising the system when it comes to remote playback.
Wondering if SSD caching may be the way to go or if I should consider some kind of conversion regime for the library ...not a challenge i relish having been someone who for YEARS converted every single file I acquired using handbrake.
On the LAN, high quality files seem to function without issue, as they should...but the CPU load appears to be unbearably huge (100%) when transcoding just 2x1080P files remotely. I've followed some online vids and guides on optimising settings but any further targeted guidance would be much appreciated ...
Regards

First I want to thank you for many hours of information. Your videos have been very helpful with making my decision to purchase a snyology NAS.
I would like use Homebridge on the 1522+. I plan on using the 1522+ mainly for storage and streaming movies on the local LAN. Do you think having Homebridge running all the time will cause performance issues with the 1522+?
Would you recommend running Homebridge on a Raspberry Pie instead?
Thanks again!!
Mike

Greetings, i recently subscribe to your youtube channel and have become an attempt to understand the world of Storage. I recently lost 2 hard drives and almost lost a 3 (wife) which contains an ungodly amount of podcast episodes, videos, and more.
I've come to explore a more secure way to store long-term information that pertains to m e and my wife's files.
Ive been curious about the brand Synology due to some of its features. we recently have a baby and we are constantly taking photos and videos of our little one and i would like a method of storing those in a central place via our phone. But i also need a system that can store a large amount of graphics, videos, and production videos from our work.
I would also if possible like to explore a system that i can access while outside of my home if possible to either upload or download files.
there are alot of terminology which i just can't seem to wrap my head around. if you can assist me and point me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate it. Until your reply, I will continue to explore your videos and read online to see which would be the most sound solution for my need.
