4k PLEX Remote NAS Suggestion |

I'd like to remotely (over the internet) access 4k movies/shows with Dolby Atmos audio data on my PLEX server. I will have 2 simultaneous streams at most (usually just 1). The PLEX client will be an NVIDIA Shield Pro so I should probably be fine with most NAS devices, but I'd like to get something robust enough to handle transcoding as though I didnt have the Shield Pro.
Thank you kindly!

NAS Buying Advice Request |

Hi,
I’m a first time NAS buyer and have been watching your videos and looking through your website articles a lot over the last year. It’s a complicated purchase so I have some questions, if you would be so kind as to answer.
Budget: Less than £2,000 (preferably around £1,500 mark
Use case: Home
Reason: Get central storage for my house and my parents’ house’s data & backup photos/videos/documents
- I decided to go with Synology from your many videos and the DSM software seems best/easiest to use.
- I was going for the DS923+ but believe that the DS1522+ is more future proofed.
- I would like to start with 2 drives (and have one as a backup). And buy more drives in the future.
Questions:
- What RAID configuration should I go for to have 1 drive as a backup in the beginning, and have flexibility to add more drives in the future?
- Which storage drives are the best? (WD Red Plus/Seagate etc.)
- Does my thinking make sense/what would you do?
- Is there anything else I need to kee

Hi, hope you can help?
I recently converted my garage to a home office and ensured that a armoured cable was laid from my router (in the main house) to a ethernet plate in the wall. I then use a ethernet cable to connect to a Thinkpad dock so I can get wired internet to my laptop.
Unfortunately the wifi reception in the office is not great as it is far from the house meaning that I can't use my Sonos device.
Is there a way of utilising the ethernet port on the wall so it can be used for both ethernet (for the laptop) and wifi (for Sonos).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks, Sam

NAS for docker Homebridge |

Hello I hope this finds you and your team well.
A colleague just started at Synology and has 40% off for their equipment and shared with me I should get a dual bay.
Originally I’ve considered a single bay NAS just for docker use so I can run Homebridge for my cameras in my home.
Can I get away with the cheapest DSM7 capable NAS setup or will rocker require more resources?
I think I’d be more comfortable with the DS220 as I would like to consolidate all my photography and family media and really like the second Ethernet port.
Anyway, gonna spend the next few days watching your channel. Thank you for your great work!
Best,
Amir

Hi,
After having a bad experience with Degoo lifetime subscription, I want to create a private cloud storage like dropbox and to ultimately backup my and archive my data in a safe place. I believe I want a SAN? I binged on Youtube videos bring me to NAS and gearing me to Synology products because it has good software. But, the Ds723 or Ds923 doesn't have intergrated graphic so it would not be so good for home use? Is Synology or another NAS product what I need or go with WD my cloud? I mainly want to store photos and videos, legal documents, and private client documents and keep them private and safe. Backup is a must. Information overload, please help.

Replacement NAS |

I have been a DS Synology NAS user since 2013. Recently replaced some Windows kit with latest Mac M2Pro desktops on 10Gbe LAN and need to upgrade everything else to keep up.
I'm looking for replacement NAS that's silent with very high throughput but dismayed at lack of choice.
QNAP TBS-464 NVMe SSD is only option available right now? and with Sabrent 8Tb ssd’s in all 4 slots might be an option (minimum required).
I prefer the DSM interface (waiting years for Synology to supply modern ssd based options but now given up).
I’ve read your article about the TBS-464 and hope you may be able to guide me on whether this is a sensible compromise now.
Do you rate this model? Is this book style unit likely to be reliable with these ssd’s (not familiar with this brand)?
do you think it worth waiting for a more grown-up Synology solution with less compromises? Your review of the Thunderbolt4 TS-464T4 attractive with Macs again with the 8Tb ssd cards.
I’d be grateful for your thoughts.

Budget NAS for Photos and Files |

Hi,
Currently, I'm looking to implement a NAS system in my home, preferably a Synology. The primary use of the NAS will be as a file and photo server for two users. I don't require any advanced features, such as streaming 4k videos. My main objective is to view files and photos with minimal lag.
Synology Photos appears to be an excellent application, and that is one of the primary reasons why I would prefer to acquire a Synology device. My question is whether the Synology DS120j would suffice for my requirements or if it is advisable to explore models such as the DS220+?
Furthermore, I am curious about support options. Would it be wise to purchase an "older" model like the 2020 range, or should I wait for something newer, like the DS123, to be released, considering that the newer model will be supported for a

What is a good NAS to buy for 4K Video on a budget? |

Hi, I am in the market to upgrade my old I7 computer 10years old into a new NAS device. Having seen your channel I was wondering if you could advise on a good NAS that can handle backing up from computers and to OneDrive as well as handling file shares and the ability to run Plex with 4K videos an example of method is below:
Total bitrate: 35594kbps, 23.98FPS, H264 (High @L4.1), DTS S24 5.1 on 6 channels 48.000khz
I can supply more info if required but this is an example of the type of video I would be using. I've seen your videos on the cheaper Terramaster but am a little concerned about the CPU usage for the above?
Any help would be good thanks
Mike
