I have two Synology Nas(s?) - a DS220J and a DS918+ - 2tb & 6tb respectively. We had a power cut the other day and Synology recommend installing a USB UPS. Is it possible to buy one to protect both or do I have to buy separate ones for each unit? And doe3s anyone have any recommendations?

Hi
Just checking/wondering:
Kingston FURY Renegade 2 Tt M.2 SSD
SFYRD/2000G
Kingston FURY Renegade 4 Tt M.2 SSD
SFYRD/4000G
Compatible with Qnap TVS-H474 not H674?
(both x74-series)
Is it possible? ?

I just brought Qnap for a Plex server. Can I use the latest 22 TB Iron Wolf Pro? Also, can I use a container to run BackBlaze Unlimited? The other option can get expensive.

I recently purchased my DVA3221 and will have it maxed out on memory and storage (64TB Seagate Skyhawk AI drives ) and will be running 6-8 BC500 Synology cameras. I will probably have a TV running 16 hours a day or more viewing the cameras in real time.
I was looking at the Coral that gets mentioned on the videos and was wondering if would be a good idea to run on my DVA3221? My wife wouldn't have a problem with spending a extra $60.00 after spending $6k the other night.
Thanks for all the support and knowledge you provide to your followers.
Thank you,
Ryan

Hi-love your vids. SO much info! I'm a software engineer. have a nas ~7yrs old, time for new. had 8-raid6 and 5-raid5=60tb, looking to up to at least 100. usually err on the side of smaller disks... but your review of QNAP TVS-h874-i9 has me all hot and bothered. lol. encryption is necessary due to sensitive nature of work. I am a bit concerned about recovery of encrypted data in case of failure. but I'm looking at the h874 with the new 22TB Seagate NAS drives and 2-Kingston Fury Renegade 4TB PCIe Gen 4.0 NVMe M.2. I figure that's gonna run me just under $6300. My question for you, you know a load more about this than I do. If you were buying a replacement nas with these parameters... Would that be your choice? I want speed, security, ease. I want the ability to run vms on the nas, etc. which I have not been able to do. my 7yo nas was really small business based, just did not have the power I wanted. I'll keep it for backups. lol thank you for sharing your knowledge on NAS!

I'm a junior devops looking to purchase a NAS for personal use, primarily to store media for Jellyfin and personal NextCloud. I'm considering building a DIY option to gain experience in hardware building and server space. I'm planning on 64TB of redundant storage in RAID 5 and have a budget of $3000. Can you recommend specific components for a DIY option (preferably TrueNAS Core) that will be reliable and offer me enough control to tinker around and learn? Or, alternatively, do you have any commercial products you recommend that would meet my needs?

Data on a full disk in RAID 1 |

I have 2 disks of 2To in a RAID 1 on my NAS. Lets say disk 1 and disks 2. The disks are FULL (no more space on them). I want to keep the data on the disk. Being on a RAID 1 they both contain the same data. To keep my data, can I remove just one of the disks lets say Disk 1 for keeps and use Disk 2 for something else? If I do, will I be able to read or retrieve my data on Disk 1 when I put it back in the NAS with a new Disk? Or do I have to take out the two disks (1 and 2) and keep them together to preserve and be able to read or retrieve my data. Thanks for your help.

Hello there, I'm trying to pick the right combination of hardware to use unraid for media server (Plex) and home automation (HomeAssistant). I prefer rackmount 1U to put it in my communication wall mount rack.
The 500€ target is ONLY for hardware, no disks included.
I am more inclined to DIY solution, i have no problem in assembly.
I souls apreciate your opinion/sugestion. Thank you
