  NAS Comparison
Posted by: Enquiries - 10-18-2023, 04:00 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Hello,

I'm rather new in the IT world and have little experience with NAS unfortunately.
In the company I work, I found 3 NASs we do non currently use and wondered which one would be the best to host 10TB of space for videos, photos and similar media. The marketing department needs to access them frequently.
These are devices I have:
WD DS414j
D-LINK DNS-323
NETGEAR - READYNAS DUO RND2000 V2

I kindly await your reply
Thank you

  NAS consulting
Posted by: Enquiries - 10-17-2023, 03:00 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Hi there,
I have been following your videos of Youtube to install and do configuration with anything related to the two NAS we have at the office.

We had our first NAS only for a year and everything worked fine. However, we started having a lot of problems since I installed the second NAS, and since it can get pretty technical, I believe I didn't set the proper configurations for the second NAS. I get issues all the time with IP conglict, and I can't manage to donwload a VPN configuration that can work for any of the NAS.

Would you be able to give me some consultation about it?

Thank you in advance,
Julia

My Transporter NAS stopped working. The hardware is fine but the central admin website is down. Any suggestions on how I can retrieve the data stored on the encrypted drives?

  Physical Theft NAS Protection?
Posted by: Enquiries - 10-16-2023, 05:00 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Hey NAS Compares. I have 3 NAS systems... 2 Synology and 1 UNRAID.

I'm looking to set up 1 of the Synology NAS as an offsite backup solution for my main Synology NAS.

How do yall go about physically protecting the NAS(s) from a $5 wrench attack? Should all 3 NAS be encrypted? Basically how do I protect the data on my NAS(s) from someone physically stealing it?

As of now I'm encrypting the Hyper Backup to the remote NAS.

Cheers,
Normal Dude

  NAS for video storage
Posted by: Enquiries - 10-16-2023, 04:30 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Hello,
my friend czech youtuber David Kubrt, need storage for his videos and he wants something in his home, because he has slow internet connection. I do for him some IT things, so he asked me for some solution. We are looking on QNAP TS-873A-8G and 8x WD Gold 20 TB HDDs, maybe some RAM upgrade, M.2 SSD cache I don't think it is necessary ?

What is your recommendation ? And what RAID do you recommend 5 or 6 ?

Thanks for your help

Best regards,
Marek Ulbrich

  mbl sim routers
Posted by: Enquiries - 10-16-2023, 03:00 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Hi, would you have a recomendation for a mbl sim router sub £200. I am on a steel boat so would most likely need the option of an external antenna connection. Its needed for general internet access, gaming / streaming to smart tv.
I am curently on a 3 service and router with external antenna and struggling with buffering etc
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Nas primarily for ISO 4K movies, 3d video files and music

I'm a big fan of your YouTube channel, really informative and entertaining. Keep up the good work!

My use case is along the lines of your YouTube review on the Synology TVS H874, however I will use it with Zidoo playback devices but not with PLEX.

I believe Zidoo uses SAMBA 2 software to access ISOs.

If the Synology TVS H874 with Intel i7 will work best in my use case, what about adding SSD what will that add, if anything?

My collection is approximately 2,000 discs, CD, DVD and Blu Rays...

I look forward to your reply.

Most kindest regards,

Network storage for Apple ecosystem backup, Plex 4k streaming, and file sharing
Posted by: Enquiries - 10-15-2023, 06:30 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Hello!

Thank you for the invaluable information you provide on your site. I'm considering investing in my first network storage solution, and I'm inclined towards Synology, given its reputed compatibility with the Apple ecosystem.

My primary use will be for home and family (total 4-6 users): backing up multiple iPhones, running Plex both locally and remotely, and serving as a general file server. Initially, I was contemplating the DS220+, but due to its bay limitations, I'm now leaning towards the DS920+. However, I'm also open to other options like a mini PC. My preference is for a user-friendly interface that's fast, won't lag, and requires minimal maintenance.

Highly appreciate your advice and looking forwards to hearing back from you.

Thanks
