NAS selection help - picture browsing is essential?

Picture browsing is my priority, my wife would like just to grab an android phone and just browse pictures, videos, etc. Key factor is also price, a 2 bay device should be fine. The device needs to be able to be configured without an online server to be present ( got a Netgear stora, that cannot be configured, as it is trying to access a netgear server which is off ). So far, I found qnap TS230 as a viable option, please chip in with experience, bad or good about it or any similar device.
Thanks in advance,
Vlad

Seek to connect my QNAP TS-870 with dual port 10 GBE RJ45 to my 2 PCs running Intel 10 GbE RJ45 NICS. my previous Netgear 10 GbE switch was water damaged and need a replacement.
Any suggestions?
No PoE required but sfp+ required for uplink connectivity to my Unifi UDM Pro. small setup no need for anything over 4 to 8 10 GbE RJ45 ports

Dear Experts,
Some time ago there was a post on Q&A Forum about status LED flashing
https://nascompares.com/answer/qnap-red-...-solution/
In the article there was statement "If it doesn’t boot, you will need to come back to me.".....sooo I come back.
I have QNAP 453B, after firmware update the NAS is "dead".
Status LED if flashing (color red, period 2sec).
The HDD drive's are plugged out.
There is no beep signal.
Fan is not rotate (I disconnected the fun plug and connect the fan to external power supply - fun is working).
If needed I can replace the FAN to new one. But before firmware update he works fine (software update damaged him? I don't think so.)
What do you think? Is there any option to bring the NAS alive?

DS1621+ vs DS1520+ for media playback?

I have watched lots of your videos on the DS920+ (as you don't have some of the Plex and video station review reviews for the DS1520+) and the DS1621+trying to figure out which one is the best for watching movies and dealing with bigger, denser files, including 4K HEVC. I can't seem to figure out which NAS will be best. While the Celeron chip on the DS1520+ seems like it would be better as it has a little GPU capabilities on the CPU, the AMD Ryzen is a beefier chip and seems to come off better on your videos even though it is doing software transcoding on HEVC.
The price difference between the 2 NAS's isn't an issue (happy to pay more for the DS1621+). But which one is the better NAS for video playback (Plex and Video Station), especially at 4K HEVC?
Also, if I go for the DS1621+, would a RAM upgrade or NVMEe SSD for cacheing help with video playback?

QNAP Future Migration?

Hi!
About a year ago I bought a QNAP 431P to be used for home network storage. Little did I know how versatile this device was going to be. I actually have ended up using it to replace an old file server and home theatre PC. The bad part of this is that while the 431P does a pretty good job of file serving it's kind of under-powered to used as a full fledged Plex server plus run cameras and other tasks simultaneously.
I've been looking at the TS-873 as a migration path but know very little about the AMD processors. Is this a decent future proof-ish version to look at for a power home user? I like the expansion capabilities of this model. M.2, add-on network or graphics card, 4 x memory slots, etc. It seems very modular.
Any advice would be appreciated.

HI NAS Compares,
I was wondering whether anyone knows for sure whether the 18 TB seagate pro drive (ST18000NE000) will work in the DS1019+?
I looked at Synology's compatibility website - but they didn't explicitly show the ST18000NE000 drive in their list for the DS1019+.
