Connect Synology DS920 to Lenovo ix4-300d |

I recently purchased a DS920 to replace my Lenovo ix400 and replace an old laptop which i used as my plex server. All the files were saved on the Lenovo NAS and streamed via my Nvidia ShieldTVPro with the laptop being the plex server.
I did not know how to move the Plex server to the DS920 so deleted the plex server from the laptop and installed on the DS920 - this didnt work out well at all
I am now trying to connect the Lenovo NAS to the Synology NAS via USB to access the content through Plex on the DS920 but I am failing
I want to access the files from the Lenovo NAS (for now) as I only have 2 16tb drives in the DS920 and cannot do a RAID setup as yet
Can this be done via USB or at all even?
appreciate the help
thanks

Switching From Drobo |

Hey, I'm currently using the Drobo 5Dt and 5C and I need to switch to another storage provider.
I'm a photographer. I use Apple computers. I don't need access to all the files in storage all the time, I just need to have access to any files as/when I need to.
I have a few q's;
- What is the best upgrade from my current Drobo 5Dt and 5C? I care about speed, and don't necessarily need a NAS unit.
- Would you recommend a NAS unit even if I don't need access to all my files all the time...? I don't have a very good Internet connection.
- If I do get a NAS unit, can I use it just as a backup without connecting it to a network? With the idea of being able to connect to a network sometime in the future.
- I'm currently using Seagate BarraCuda Pro 3.5" hard rives, these are not NAS drives, can I use them in a Synology NAS housing?
Thanks

Which NAS |

I keep thinking of buying a NAS, but which one? My first reason was for back up of my wife’s iMac 2012 still has the original hard drive 1TB 3/4 full (10 years old ?) and my Mac book also 2012. My wife does a lot of wild life photography don’t want to loose her great photos. As time goes she will need more and more space. She likes to share her photos with our family and her photo pals. Her iMac is obviously slowing down but still usable for editing, her photos. If we are investing in a NAS would be great if she or we could edit our photos stored on the NAS, rather then than on the iMac hard drive hoping that the NAS would be faster and a much better experience. Then I’m looking at PLEX for all those old family Videos we never get to see and 100 or so DVD,s we have. Happy to spend a little extra for future proof and the latest technology. Our router is Virgin V3. Look forward to hearing from you, many thank.

Looking for a simple replacement for my Drobo 5D which is connect to my new Mac Studio desktop.
Will be used as direct attached storage for 20TB+ of RAW format photos.
Must have a high transfer speed.
Need to be able to connect the existing Drobo for transfer of current files.
Would prefer the latest and greatest Thunderbolt connectivity or USB-C.
Will not be streaming from or remotely accessing any of these files.
Do not need any sort of app or mobile connectivity.

I am interested in getting a 2tb Kingston Fury Renegade with graphene heat spreader for my PS5 and combining it with a Sabrent heatsink for PS5. Do you have any experience with the Kingston Fury Renegade? Would the graphene heat spreader and the added heatsink be overkill or would it be ill advised to use them both? I also wonder because of additional heat spreader on the SSD would it not fit properly with the Sabrent PS5 heatsink? I appreciate any feedback you might be able to provide.
I also have been watching your YouTube videos and I want to thank you for your great content. You are very knowledgeable and the information you provide is very well explained. Great work and thanks again.

We have a club where we use around 5 Pcs and 3 surveillance camera systems. We want to have network storage to have our shared files and also to back up our PCs and our Camera systems.
not everyone should have access to the shared files and also we want to create passwords for the users.
It would be ideal if we can have logs to know who made changes to the files and we want to have versions of the files back to 3 months.
What are your suggestions?

DS923+ and LG TV |

Hi. I'm thinking about buying Synology DS923+. I want it to work with my LG TV (C1 oled). I'm aware that DS923+ doesn't have internal graphics so I understand that media/plex streaming is no option. So my question is - Is it possible to use the NAS on the TV similarly as I put USB drive to the tv and just play videos/movies from it? I mean just reach the file from NAS and let TV play it instead of streaming.
Kind regards
Aleks
