F5-422 |

I have a Synology 1821+ that handles all my storage needs ( plex is a no-go on it ) for now and I do not want to open it up to more risk than needed
So I have purchased an F5-422 ( maybe should have waited for 423 but have no idea when it will be available so ... here we are)
Please help me get the most out of the two devices ( There is no way I can delete all the data off my Synology )
So I was thinking PLEX on the F5 (hardware x265) with all the movies and tv shows downgraded in quality ( shows 720p and movies 1080p ) - storage and speed concerns
I will be having the 2 rj45 1 GBE teamed on the switch and the 10 GBE directly to my PC,
will upgrade with an extra 8Gb RAM module
The raid will be TRAID so I can expand it as I can afford bigger drives (or hand-me-downs from the Synology NAS)
Also, I was thinking I could use USD enclosers to expand the storage ( can the TerraMaster DAS be used here? )
Another idea is to have my documents/photos on the F5 and back up to Synology

I am looking to buy my first NAS for purposes of a home studio for audio post production workflow and was not sure what to get. I was thinking a 4 bay NAS and will be running it from my Mac Studio with a silicon chipset on Monterey. I wanted to be able to use the NAS device with a RAID configuration to ensure fast speeds as well as having backups in the event that a drive goes down or files get corrupted. Along with this, would my read and write speeds be able to keep up with the Pro Tools sessions if I ran a project directly from the NAS? Thank you so much in advance!!!

Though I am going to purchase a NAS, I am a uneducated about NAS, as I watch your YouTube videos I’m learning, ThankYou !
I do have a old NAS, Netgear ReadyNAS Duo V.2, however it’s no longer supported by Netgear! It does work but needs firmware updates which I haven’t quite figured out how to accomplish yet. If you have any educational suggestions that can lead me to resurrecting this old Nas, it sure would be welcomed.
One of my questions is can to different brands is Nas units be used together in tandem, should I ever be able to get the ready? Nas sort it out?
After watching your videos, I’ve kind of settled on either the Q nap TS 264 or a TS 464, which appear to be only about $100 difference in price. Which of these two would you recommend? And how can I make purchase thru you website?

Asustor 6604t + Reolink RLC-810A |

Hello,
I want to get an asustor 6604t and 2 cameras if possible with live feed/stream to an Android tablet. I want to stream to my tablet after dark for a more secure feeling in my home.
I think 2 Reolink RLC-810A are perfect for my needs but I couldn't find any information if they could connect to the Nas ( I think they can via FTP ).
So can you please tell me if they work together and if not could you recommend some to me please. If possible PoE powered cameras for ease of installation but not required.
The night vision doesn't have to reach more than 10 meters because my front and back garden aren't that big, so I rather have a better video quality than a longer night vision range.
TL;DR
I want ( if possible):
A camera with good night vision for around 150 euro per camera ( more than 10 meters won't be necessary)
Be able to save recording of the last the 48 hours Incase of an event.
Live feed/stream to an Android tablet
Thank you for your help=)

Upgrade from QNAP TS453mini |

Hi, I'm hoping for advice on the best upgrade from a QNAP TS453mini (bought when first released, so aging now). I'm hoping to find a 6 or 8 bay NAS which I can add NVME or SSD to for caching and/or more drives. I currently have 4x8TB WD RED drives in RAID 5 and would like to be able to put these into the NAS without losing data (though if I upgrade to ZFS, I can use my existing NAS to migrate). My main issue with the current NAS is it struggles to concurrently run my apps and takes nearly 24 hours to RAID scrub. It is used mostly as a home file server, backups, Plex server, occasional Photo/Vide0 editing server and for tinkering with VMs and Containers and HDMI out to TV. There are so many NAS models, different processors, etc around now, I'm not sure what to look at, but expect to stay with.QNAP (just for familiarity). Any advice welcome. Thanks

Replacement NAS |

Hi, I am currently running a DS1812+ and with a mix of 4tb ironwolf and 4tb WD red drives in SHR2. with 3GB RAM
The use case is home document storage, family photos, media server and development server running docker, mariadb and node.
The most important of these backup to a RAID0 2 disk synology in the attic which litrally sits there just acting as a backup with alerts set if there are any errors on either drive.
Ideally a future nas would run .NET nativly but i can run this though docker.
My concern is replacing the current drives there is ittle support in this model for larger drives and its stuck on DS6.
However to replace with another 8 disk nas is very expensive and i was wondering if a smaller 5 disk with 8tb drives might be better or if i should just suck it up and save up more and get the latest synology 8 disk nas. or if you think that the 1812 has life left in it and i should replace the disks in that with 8tb ones

DROBO 5d3 and DROBO 5c replacements |

I watched your YouTube : Alternative to DROBO in 2023.
I think I remember Video before.
I was reviewing the Synology DS923+ 4-Bay NAS Enclosure and I was wondering how it compared with Drobo 5d3.
RE: the 2 TERRAMASTER Drives:
I think the TERRAMASTER D8-332 8-bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID (8-bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID Storage) is preferable to the 5 Bay Drive), & you made that clear to me in your video
However, I was still wondering about Synology, as this Synology DS923+ 4-Bay NAS Enclosure is now about the same price as the TERRAMASTER D5 Thunderbolt 3 Professional-Grade 5-Bay External Hard Drive Enclosure RAID 0/RAID1/RAID5/RAID10/JBOD Hard Disk RAID Storage (Diskless) on sale now for $599, whereas the TERRAMASTER D8-332 8bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID Storage Most Compact Professional-Grade 8-Bay Tower Thunderbolt3 Hardware RAID Enclosure Support RAID 0/1/5/10/JBOD External Hard Drive RAID Storage (Diskless) is $1,299.99. I need to know if DRIVES in Drobo can be swapped?

NAS Hard Drives |

I am building a computer and I plan to include two hard drives in a Raid 1 configuration. Since I am using this arrangement as part of my overall backup strategy, should I use drives designed for NAS set ups like Ironwolf or Western Digital Red drives or go with those designed for desktop computers? Love your channel and thanks for your help.
