On my wishlist for a new video:
- Resilio Sync
- Syncthing

To me the feature that makes all the difference when comparing NAS systems is the on-demand sync that Synology Drive provides.

I'm always surprised that this is seldom mentioned or explained when other systems are compared with Synology.

There's a huge difference between editing a file locally or a file on a NAS.

Somewhere I read a comment that there are alternatives that can be installed on for example a UGreen NAS
- Resilio Sync
- Syncthing

It would be great if you did a video on how to install and use for example Resilio Sync on a UGreen NAS!

hi there, big fan of your channel and reviews.

I have just found this NAS board and your review for CWWK M8 N150/N355. I am still relatively new to all of this and am learning along the way. I am really interested in using a Sparkle Intel Arc A310 ECO (https://www.sparkle.com.tw/en/A310-ECO) for Plex transcoding purposes but I am not sure if this will fit. The PCIE slot on the board looks quite a bit further in and I know that some smaller slots work on larger cards with a slight downgrade in performance but I am not sure on how that all works.

I'm very familiar with computers and have built many pc's in my time but I've never tried to build a NAS before while trying to juggle a good mix of cost to performance to power consumption. I am essentially thinking of building a low power nas with this GPU for plex and that is essentially it. I have an intel nuc that was decommed through work which I use for proxmox so dont need the nas to handle anything crazy because the nuc handles that.

Trying to decide if I should aim for 16 or 24 TB of usable storage on my NAS build which will be used as media server for movies/tvs shows (plex), music, all the stuff on my icloud (between the 5 members of my family we currently are using about 1tb).

Going to build my own server - not buying prebuilt.

Don't want to go overboard but also want to future proof.

I have a Asus FlashStor FS6706T with all 6 bays filled in with 4tb NVME each.

I have two volumes running a raid 5.

Recently, one of the NVME drives failed and I tried to replace it with same said NVME but it wont rebuild and says inaccessable.

If I remove the volume that works and free up the other 3 nvme's, can I use one of those to do a rebuild of my other volume?

Hello, I'm setting up a NAS and I wanted to access it's files from File Explorer without setting up a VPN outside of local network. I do have admin access to my router and I can port forward as well. Although I'm not sure how I can set it up. Thanks a lot for the help!

Hello, I would like to build a NAS. But I am a complete rookie at everything. I just looked up the meaning of NAS today and it's uses. Till now I have been saving my downloads on external HHDs but I've got three permanently attached to my computer and I am realizing that I needed a different solution.

I would like to start with Plex and I am also an avid gamer. For several games I use mods/cc. Think of Skyrim, Fallout and Sims 4. I try to never delete the mods/cc as a safeguard for myself and to share with others in the future. Still I would like to create and run a program that will help me automatically unpack, sort and organize these mods/cc in the future.

So my question is as someone who has no clue what she is doing, but is willing to learn. How can I create a NAS, make it growable and futureproof?

I was thinking about a secondary backup in the form of an N100 and a 3.5" HDD that I can place at a friends place. The requirements are low, power, low noise, reasonable looks and potentially WiFi (here I could compromise). For low power I want the system to be capable for waking up from the internal clock and then pull the backup from the main backup server. Network speed will be limited by the public internet in between the remote backup and the main backup. The bulk of the data will be put on the drive before it is placed at the other place. Disaster recovery would be the physical transfer of the device. I want to use rsync to backup a borg directory.
I am capable of setting up the dDNS and linux OSs for those servers so the main question is about the board and the case. Do those Topton boards wake up from RTC?
I am not locked in on the aforementioned N100 and 3.5" HDD but that seems to be an option to me.

What memory should I add in a 1825+ synology ?

I have locked myself out of my NAS unintentionally by setting a firewall rule. Is there a way to reset network settings without losing data.

I want to move my Plex streaming from my Synology DS3617xs. All things being equal, what would be the perfect system for me to handle the workload of 4k files on Plex?
