  DS1621xs+ M.2 Pools?
Posted by: Enquiries - 02-18-2023, 07:00 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Do you think that Synology will eventually support M.2 pools on the DS1621xs+? I have this device currently. But would consider going to the 1823xs+ if they will never support M.2 on my current device.

  memory for DS3622xs+
Posted by: Enquiries - 02-18-2023, 06:00 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Hi Robbie,

I was looking to add 64gb (2x32) to my synology ds3622xs+. Do you have a good set you can recommend. I tried the v-color TES432G26D819K-VC which are DDR4-2666 CL19 ECC SO-DIMM's but the server wouldn't boot. Any suggestions?

Should I Upgrade? And what about SHR?
Posted by: Enquiries - 02-18-2023, 06:00 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Hi!

I love your Youtube channel. I have a 1817+ with 80 TB storage (26 TB used) in SHR-2. My data is work-related backups, important personal info, photos (amateur photographer), and digital media. My HHDs are WD RED Pros, 14-16GB each. RAM is 16GB. Internet is 1GB/s.

A couple questions:
- If the 1823xs+ doesn't support SHR, what should I do?
- When moving data from my laptop to my NAS, 20% of the time it gives an error and I have to re-copy. Especially large files or ones with many sub-files. How do I make it smoother. Transfer rate is ~45-60MB/s.
- Will upgrading to this newer version be much faster?

Thanks!
Jonathan

  Synology Assistant Reinsta;;
Posted by: Enquiries - 02-18-2023, 04:30 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Sirs:

Sadly I found your Synology configuration after I installed my new SynologyDS1522+.

I am in the process of configuring the system using your instructional videos, but for some reason, the Synology Assistant (now with update) isn't on my computer.

I went to re-install it separately but can't because when I do, the computer wants to install with Adobe Lightroom Classic, which it obviously can't.

I can't get it to download and install DSM_DS1522+_42962.pat). Can you help me with this pls? There will be a cup of coffee in it for you.

I use a MacBook Pro, OS version Ventura version 13.2.1.

Thank you so much.

Scott from Texas, USA

  2.5gbe ports TS453D
Posted by: Enquiries - 02-18-2023, 09:00 AM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

I have QNAP TS453D with inbuilt 2.5gbe ports. I have a 2.5gbe card in my pc. 48TB (4x12) + 32GB memory - it's used as a media server - it's a backup of the main media library which is offline when not in use. It's connected with a 1gbe cable via a switch for access around the house. It always uses that connection.
How do I configure it to use the 2.5gbe ports for data transfer?

Top channel: I've learned a lot about my NAS and how it works from you

  NAS Rackmount
Posted by: Enquiries - 02-18-2023, 07:30 AM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Hello,

I am looking for a nas for a live production rack. It needs to support 5 4k video recorders recording to it and several macs sharing and accessing files at same time. Something easy to setup and 25gbe nic. I was looking at the synology fs2500. I would like to use nvme m.2 if there is one in my budget.

  Video Editing Help!
Posted by: Enquiries - 02-18-2023, 02:00 AM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Hello
I just found your youtube videos and I feel like I need more help.
I got a video project for a feature film and the footage are 10TB.
I thought buying a NAS is a way to go but you are saying (your video is playing now!) that NAS is slower and not going to perform great on 4K (or higher) resolutions.
Since the final movie (1:30 hours) is going to be large and at least 4K (if not more), I'm not sure what to do.
I hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks,
Mo

I have not been on my synology for months and also I am new to it. I set up three other users when I first set everything up and I am able to log on, but I can't log on to my admin account. Is there a way to reset the password ?
I also was wondering if you teach courses on the synology or programs that run on it.

  m.2 SATA/PCIE SSD?
Posted by: Enquiries - 02-17-2023, 11:00 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Been a Mac user for over 10 years. Haven't replaced a hard drive since 2014. Purchased a Mini industrial computer equipped with Kaby Lake R i7 8550U Processor, 1.80 GHz(up to 4.0 GHz), 8 MB cache, 4 Cores 8 Threads, for personal, home use. Media, movies, music. Board allows for mSATA SSD Slot, 3.0 and 2.5 HDD or SSD 3.0 and a m.2 SATA/PCIE SSD. Was looking at the Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD 2TB NVMe M.2 and the SAMSUNG 980 PRO SSD 2TB PCIe NVMe Gen 4 Gaming M.2Woud either one of these be a good fit? One TB would probably be enough though.

  TL-D800C vs TL-D800S
Posted by: kanazky - 02-17-2023, 10:37 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

I have both a PCIE_x4 and USB 3.2 port available in my server.

Going to be using them in RAID 5 (windows).

I would be using 8 Iron Wolf NAS 7200 RPM drives. They claim a pretty stable speed of 180/mbps.

Is the extra money for the S going to be worth it in my case or is the USB-C 3.2 port not the bottle neck?

Thanks,
Jake
