I need to exchange the drives for my Synology DS712+. WHich are the best and most reliable drive for it?

I need to exchange both drives of my Synology DS712+. Which are th best and most reliable ones.

Please can you advise on which drives are suitable for QNAP TBS-464-8G. From what I have researched, the perfect drives for this machine are Gen 3x2. However, I can only find Gen 3x4. Can you suggest any 3x2 drives and where I can find them, or the Gen 3x4 alternatives. FYI, I've had a Synology drive for the past 15 years, and the one I have now is now outdated (DS215j).

I saw your video on the Asustor NVME system. I like the footprint and lack of HDD chatter.

My environment is solely wireless with a 1GB router, though there are multiple devices, there is only myself in the house with ocassionaly family (five) that may have two devices streaming off the NAS.

I have two computer devices that I back up data files weekly. There is approximately 5TB of video data 1080 and 4K both MP4 & MKV.. There is 120GB of music files, along with a bunch of install files backed up.

I'm not married to any specific solution including the Asustor (though nice). Plex seems to be your recommendation and I do have it in my environment.

I appreciate your input and would be happy to use your links for purchase. Please note that I am in the middle of a remodel, so any purchase would be approximately two months out.

Hi I am seeting up a home wlan and have a virgin business modem with 13 static ips connected to a TP LINK router. I have purchased a layer 3 switch NETGEAR GS308E Managed Gigabit Ethernet . I need a suitable vlan wireless access point. I want to connect different laptops using different ips all wirelessly. What wireless access point do you have that is suitable. Is it possible to mount a macOS SMB share in DSM 7.2? I have tried using CIFS but keep getting an authentication error in DSM. I know that the username and password is correct as the same share is mounted on my Windows laptop. I can’t find ANY info on the internet that suggests that this is possible so I am beginning to think it’s not possible. Thanks in advance

Hi, can the Synology DS223J NAS be connected direct to a MacBook Pro through a usb hub? I don’t have connectivity to a network currently & wish to use as daily storage & back up?

Ive been going back and forth reading all of your reviews. I am at the very beginning of my plex adventure. I have 2 (10tb Iron Wolf Drives) from an existing nas my neighbor built for me running truenas and I hate it. So i've decided to compare the DS224 and the DS423. I think I would like to stay cheaper at the moment, and wondering if I should buy the 2 bay nas or the 4 bay nas. I am not sure if I should just use the 2 (10TB) drives I already own, or buy the 2 bay box and go high with the drives to make it last for quite awhile down the road. Any info you can share would be most helpful. It is going to be a single person using the NAS.

For my first NAS server I’ve bought a second hand QNAP 453D 8G (massive thanks for your QNAP set up video collection) and am looking to buy drives for it, either four 2TB or three 3TB. I’ve been looking at 2nd hand drives from CeX, eBay and Marketplace as they are half the price of new ones but a lot of them have dates of 2017 or before so is it a false economy? None of the adverts state how many hours they’ve done. When I get the drives what’s the best way to check them?
I couldn’t see a way on YouTube to search within your channel to see if you’ve covered this on a previous video so if you have please could you give me the link
