Ugreen dxp4800

#1
I want to replace an old NAS where I currently have stored just under 2tb of family documents and photos. I want to be able to get these files online.
Would the Ugreen dxp4800 be suitable or should I opt for the plus model? Or maybe you would recommend something better.
Thanks

For 2TB of family docs and photos with online access, the UGREEN DXP4800 is a decent pick—solid hardware, dual 2.5GbE ports, and 4 bays give you room to grow. It’ll handle your needs fine with the UGREEN app for remote access. But the DXP4800 Plus might be worth the extra cash: it’s got a faster CPU (Pentium Gold vs. N100), a 10GbE port for quicker transfers, and two M.2 slots if you want SSD speed later. Software-wise, they’re similar—still maturing, but functional for basics like this.

If you’re just after reliability and don’t need the speed boost, the DXP4800 is enough. For something better, a Synology DS923+ offers a slicker OS and more app options, though it’s pricier and tops out at 2.5GbE. Depends on your budget and if you want to future-proof

The Ugreen DXP4800 is a solid choice for storing and accessing files online, particularly for your family documents and photos. It offers a compact design and decent performance, especially for basic file sharing and storage. However, if you're planning to use it for more demanding tasks like running multiple applications or heavy file transfers over time, you might want to consider the DXP4800 Plus version. The Plus model typically offers more powerful specs, including better processing power, which would be helpful for faster access, improved multitasking, and handling larger amounts of data more efficiently.

Given your 4TB storage requirement and the relatively modest file types (family photos and documents), the DXP4800 should meet your needs well for now, but if you foresee expanding or requiring higher performance, the Plus model would be the more future-proof option.

Alternatively, if you’re open to other options, you might want to look into more established NAS brands like Synology or QNAP, which offer more extensive software and support for remote access and data management.
