Move from Google Photos? |

I got the NAS to use as a bridge between my Windows 10 laptop machine (and its access to a VPN to access stuff on company internal network, AND my main box, with is Manjaro Linux. (I use it. I do not know it well.)
I want to move myself and my wife AWAY from Google Photos for a number of reasons.
Can we have an environment on our Android phones where shots will be automatically sent to the NAS, and then LINKABLE, so we can share photos or Albums with others?
Which app woudl be best for this please?

Hello! Congratulations on your website and the good reviews on NAS. I wanted to consult your opinion or recommendation, based on the data provided. I want to get away from Google a bit more, try NextCloud, create my first home media server, etc. There are many options, but I am not sure which one will meet my needs. There are several NAS that do not allow updating the RAM memory, and I do not know if that could represent a problem in the long term. Maybe the Synology DS220 + can cover that, but it might be a bit out of my budget, adding the price of Hard Drives. A friend recommended the TerraMaster F2-210, with a Celeron CPU that I do not know if it can be a reliable option (because of the bad reputation that these CPUs bring about their low performance). On the other hand there is the Synology DS120j, but as I think it happens with all the J series models, the RAM memory is quite limited and does not allow to increase it. I would not like to buy something that in the short term falls short and, I do not know, after a year I have to replace the NAS because the performance is not good. Sorry for the long text, and possible bad English. Regards, and thank you very much.

NAS for 2 users? |

Hi Guys,
I've really enjoyed your channel - watching over 10hours of videos of Synology vs QNAP - entertaining indeed!
I have a music / audio post production company with 2 users (10TB of data between us) needing to connect to a NAS for backup and transfer of files between each computer. Running audio / Music projects from the NAS would also be great (simultaneous playback of 50+audio tracks @ 44.1kHz 24bit wav files +H.264 video files)
Being a Mac user the Synology 920+ (4 x 8tb drives) is tempting also price wise. But should I be concerned with 1GB ethernet? Or should I go for 10GB ethernet? Our 2018 MacMini's do support 10GBE.
Any suggestions would be very welcomed indeed!
Best,
DamoAudio

Choosing a NAS? |

Hey there!
I'm looking into getting a NAS but have been overwhelmed with the costs and options.
I'm looking for something that can run Home Assistant (with Zigbee and Z Wave USBs attached), a Plex Server for music, photos, and some movies, and to work as an NVR to hold footage for a week or two at 720p from 3 cameras.
What would be the minimum requirements I'd be looking for to achieve this and any advice in general?
Thanks!

Choosing a hard drive and NAS? |

I was planning on purchasing 920+ by Synology.
I probably already have around 4TB of photos, videos, etc..... I have future plans to add media as well as videos of kids sporting events.
I was planning on purchasing 2, 10 TB ironwolf hard drives for now and setting it up as SHR with plans to add another hard drive or 2 in the future.
I would like to add a similar but smaller set up at my small business where I currently have less than a a TB of storage but would like to back up to my home Synology and vice versa.
The items are in my cart but want confirmation that this makes decent sense. thank you,

Looking at a NAS with a 3K budget (just for the NAS, storage will come later) I was thinking about a TVS-h1688X this will be used for PLEX that wil handle 5 - 10 streams of which may have 3 - 5 transcoding. I would also like to use a GPU if possible for hardware tanscoding.
Thank you
