I've been watching your videos, very helpful. I still have yet to figure out one issue. When I purchased my Terramaster, it seemed easy to share files over the internet with others. That's what it sounded like anyway. Come to find out, I can't figure out how to do so. I'm still paying for transfer sites when one of the main reasons for going with a NAS was to allow my clients to access the folders I give them access to; allowing them to download their files. I can't seem to find a video, chat, help or any info out there that talks about this. I.E. I have a folder with images in it that I want to deliver to the client. How do I get a link crated for that folder that is on my NAS drive and send it to my client for them to click and download the files? I would love to stop paying additional transfer sites like DropBox when the Terramaster NAS claims it can do the same thing. I'm not a programmer and hope that there is something simple I am missing. Any info would be AWESOME!

Hi, I watched in the last view days so many of your videos. Thank you for creating them.... I bought in 2013 a drobo 5n2 I never spent much time and only used it as storage (I am embarrassed). Now looking for an entry (testing) to backup the drobo and venture into NAS . I am looking at a start to learn and expand my experience. I wanted to get the cheapest Synology NAS which gives me room to do that while being able to let my family and me discover features of NAS (music, file share, video, external access, .... ) So simple features as a start. Appreciate if you could help and advise what would be the best for us to buy. Thanks Mathias

| DS218+ to a DS418play or DS918+ |

I have a DS218+ that I use mostly for Shared Folders, Active Business (backing up ESXi VMs), Cloud Sync, and Synology Drive. It's also currently used for Docker, but I've moved most of my Docker containers to another server. I did upgrade the RAM on the DS218+.
I'm looking at the DS418play and the DS918+, but leaning towards the DS418play. My conundrum is the price difference isn't that much (used market). Is it worth it to spend a little more money for the DS918+? I'm not sure my home usage would benefit from cache drives or expandability.

Hello
single user, home network
Presently have the DS1515+. LAN1 is connected to my modem. Plan to connect LAN2 to my modem (link Aggregation)
Can I also connect my Mac Studio 10 Gigabit Ethernet (RJ-45) port DIRECTLY to LAN3? (ethernet connection)
If it is possible, is the 1515+ 10 Gbps capable as long as the cable can support that speed (Cat6a).
Would this be possible or fraught with problems?
Any advice would be appreciated
TIA

I have been binge-watching your website for a few days and I truly appreciate your time and work in putting all this together.
Even though I have managed to get a general idea of NAS and Plex media servers, I am still unsure on which devices to consider.
Key info:
- This would be my first NAS
- Preference for Synology and 4 bay
- Able to play 4K downloaded content of 35 to 50GB files (most of times .mkv)
- Mainly to be played on TV and commuting to work on 2 devices (lower quality streaming) / never more than 2 devices streaming
- Able to backup my data and access it anywhere
- I have a Sony Bravia smart TV from 2017 (KD-55XD7005)
- Wi-fi is 1 Gbps download / 75 Mbps upload
Question:
I saw the Synology DS920+, DS720+, and DS423+. Based on the above which one do you think would be the best option for me? Or is there any other model you would recommend?
Thanks a LOT in advance for your opinion.

Hi Guys,
I hope this message finds you well. I would like to setup a Terramaster f4-423 NAS for home use and I'm wondering what type of hard drive I should use for the best performance, reliability and cost. The primary use case for the NAS will be data storage, but I'm also interested in using it for photo editing as I become more familiar with NAS.
I was hoping you could share your expertise on this matter and provide me with some recommendations. Are there any specific hard drive models or brands that you would suggest for this type of setup? Should I be looking for hard drives with a specific RPM or cache size? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards,
Kaush

| QNAP OS on N5105 MOBO |

Hey Robbie, Eddie
Have an unusual question and one you may want to explore for future video.
Let's say someone has a NAS, I have several, both QNAP and Synology, but let's use example of QNAP TS-853U (Large space for motherboard and PSU). There is a USB OS drive plugged in and hot glued in place. Let's say for some reason in the future the motherboard dies, am I able to replace the mobo with the likes of ones from Ali express N5105, and use the original USB OS stick in them?
Cheers
D

Hi guys!
Just wanted to let you know that the RC for 7.2 is now out!
Also, a quick question, now that M.2 NVMe SSD's can be used for storage pools, can we use any M.2 NVMe SSD? Or does it have to be a Synology branded one? I've had a look online and its not really apparent.
Thanks!
