NAS Selection

#1
Hi. Value your YouTube videos. Want to have a NAS that I divide into two storage "areas." One for protecting important family docs, the second is the very important one: all family slides (~1,000 35mm or more), videos, scanned pictures, plus DVDs...the entire family's multi-media and history. Loss of this data is not an option. Want advanced features like facial recognition, advanced means for cataloging, then sharing with family via a vpn interface. Running a 1 Gbps rated network. Willing to pay now for ability to expand later (e.g., M.2 cache or drive. Unsure what HDD sizes. Thanks.

For your requirements and budget, the DS423+ is a versatile NAS solution that perfectly aligns with your needs. This multimedia-friendly NAS, filled with 8TB WD Red Plus drives, provides ample storage capacity to safeguard your extensive family slides, videos, and other precious memories. While adding an NVMe cache can certainly enhance performance, it's not a critical requirement initially and can be considered for future expansion.
