Hello, i have a msi z87-g55 msi motherboard with free PCI-E slots, and i am thinking of buying an M2 nvme device that i will insert through an adapter to the slot. i am thinking of samsung 980 pro 2tb. Would you advice it to use in an older PCi-E gen 3 slot MB? or maybe it is better to go for a lower price crucial p3 plus?
Other suggestions?
Thank you

When considering an M.2 NVMe device for your MSI Z87-G55 motherboard with free PCI-E slots, it's important to note that M.2 devices are backward compatible. Thus, you can use the Samsung 980 Pro 2TB in an older PCI-E Gen 3 slot without any issues. However, if you're looking for a more budget-friendly option, the Crucial P3 Plus could be a viable alternative. Additionally, QNAP offers a combo card, the QM2-2P-344A, which might be worth considering for its features. Ultimately, the Samsung 980 Pro remains a solid choice for its performance and reliability. It's great to see you're exploring your options for up to 150 euros with a minimum of 2TB storage. This setup will cater well to your home needs.
