DX517 install

#1
Hi There,

I'm looking for some advice on installing 2 x DX517 expansion units with a DS16121+ NAS.

I simply want to add more capacity to my existing storage pool. The NAS cuurenly has about 90TB on it and is rapidly running out. The new expansion units each have 5 x 20 TB drives installed and ready to go.

I found this video about installing the expansion units and as 12.25 he mentions that not all drives appear on DSM as available when trying to add an expansion unit to current stroage pool. Is this correct, if so is there a way around that.

Also can I continu eto use the NAS once installed and the RAID is re-configuring?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

Jack

Yes, you can add additional storage space via expansion units.
Some people use SAS drives instead of SATA, this is when drives are not recognised.
NAS will work with new RAID reinitializing. It has independent storage for OS.

I hope this helps.
