Memory upgrade for DS1522+

#1
Hi
Thanks for your excelent YT videos Smile
I have a 1522+ arriving today, to upgrade my inhouse NAS but also to test a few areas for clients.
So thinking about memory upgrades.
Have you established reliable non Syno memory for the 1522?
1, is it safe to add a non syno 8Gb to get 16gb?
or is it better to just buy another syno branded 8gb module?
2, can you recomend a non syno brand for a pair of 16Gb? Do we need to use ECC?

Two areas I am considering for this client are running Win10 or WinServer in a Virtual Machine. hence the memory upgrade, any recomendations or thoughts on this? The client has a DS1510 as their main server but needs a Windows based server to run just two Sage Server side apps, for Line50 and SAPA. The current, seperate Windows Server is pure overkill, but needs replacing.

Other is to use the Syno Drive as a replacement for OneDrive... but im not convinced its actually up to it, given the App reviews.. do you know if its a useable product?

many thanks!!
Dan

We have a community list here https://nascompares.com/answer/synology-...tible-ram/
If you do not use Synology RAM, they might refuse support, but the warranty stays the same.
You can mix RAM modules.
Here are few listed too https://nascompares.com/ram/ds1522-compa...m-upgrade/
VM will benefit a lot from increased RAM. ECC RAM is recommended, but non-ECC will also work.
Synology Drive is the same or better than Dropbox.
