NAS Rackmount

#1
Hello,

I am looking for a nas for a live production rack. It needs to support 5 4k video recorders recording to it and several macs sharing and accessing files at same time. Something easy to setup and 25gbe nic. I was looking at the synology fs2500. I would like to use nvme m.2 if there is one in my budget.

The Synology FS2500 can be a good option for your needs, as it is designed for high-performance and intensive workloads. It supports up to 24 bays, so you should have plenty of space for your recording and file sharing requirements.

In terms of networking, the FS2500 comes with four 25GbE SFP28 ports, which should provide plenty of bandwidth for multiple 4K video streams and file sharing at the same time. Additionally, the FS2500 supports SSD caching, which can help to further improve performance.

As for using NVMe M.2 drives, the FS2500 does not support NVMe directly. However, you could use NVMe drives in your Mac workstations and access the NAS over the 25GbE network to take advantage of the high-speed storage in your workflow.

Overall, the FS2500 should be a good choice for your live production rack needs, but it's always a good idea to do some additional research and compare it to other options on the market to make sure it's the best fit for your specific requirements and budget.
