Synology DS1821+ with Seagate ST4000VN000

#1
We are planning to purchase a Synology DS1821+ and we want to use 4 HDDs from our old Seagate 4 bay NAS.
The disk model is the Seagate NAS HDD ST4000VN000 with firmware SC46.
The disk are not in the compatibility list in the Synology site. Can I use them?

Yes, you can use the Seagate NAS HDDs (ST4000VN000) in the Synology DS1821+. The fact that the disk is not listed in the compatibility list on the Synology website does not necessarily mean that it will not work with the DS1821+. Many hard drives that are not listed in the compatibility list can still work with Synology NAS devices. However, to ensure maximum compatibility and performance, it's recommended to use drives listed in the Synology Compatibility List.

That being said, it's important to consider the age and usage of the disks, as well as their overall health. If the disks have been in use for an extended period of time and have been frequently written to, it's possible that they may have degraded and may not provide the level of performance or reliability you require. Before you install the drives in the DS1821+, it's recommended to run a diagnostic test on each drive to check its health and determine if there are any issues.
