For a silent NAS setup, I recommend considering SSD.
Otherwise Western Digital Red (WD Red) hard drives or Seagate IronWolf (IronWolf Pro for higher capacity drives) hard drives. These drives are designed specifically for use in network-attached storage devices and have lower power consumption, reduced noise and vibrations, and reliable performance for 24/7 operation.

For a 4-bay setup with 4-12TB drives, the Western Digital Red 12TB drives or the Seagate IronWolf Pro 12TB drives would be a good option, providing a balance of large capacity and low noise operation.

Compare noise levels here:
Ultimately, the best drive for you will depend on your specific needs and budget, so it's a good idea to compare the specs and reviews of several drives before making a decision.
