UPS

#1
Hi,

I have a Synology DS1821+ which holds family photos, financial records and a whole bunch of unimportant stuff.

I'm looking at the SMT1000I and SMT1500I. The 1500I is much more expensive.

We have pretty consistent power and outages are rare. If we get an outage it will be down for at least an hour or more.

The UPS would be in the lounge room so would need to be quiet.

I'm thinking that if the UPS can condition input power and trigger an orderly shut down of the NAS that would meet my needs.

I do have some other equipment such as UDM Pro & Ubiquiti 48 port switch in the rack as well as the usual assortment of gaming boxes. But my life depends on keeping the photos intact.

What would be your advice?

thank you
Andrew

Yes, simple power walker UPS will make sure NAS is shut down. You do not need long battery life.

Here is a calculator for estimating battery life https://www.apc.com/shop/uk/en/tools/ups...=PRICE_ASC

I hope this helps.
