Best NAS for home use for media server

#1
Would like the ability to increase storage over time as in it for long term. There could be up to 3 people streaming media at the same on and off the network. Have used Plex but not got Plex pass so interested in first party options built into the NAS. Videos are 1080 at most. Nothing 4k at the moment. Will be using it with 24 inch M1 iMac.

If you're looking for a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device that can handle streaming media to multiple users and has the ability to increase storage over time, there are a few options you can consider. One option is the Synology DS220+. This NAS device comes with the Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) software, which includes a number of features for managing and streaming media. It has a hardware transcoding engine that can handle 1080p video, and it has two drive bays that support expansion by adding additional hard drives. This allows you to increase the storage capacity of the NAS over time as your needs change.
If you use first party app - DS Video, you can also transcode 4k.

I hope this helps.
