Just wondering if there is an advantage to setting up DNS with my NAS rather than using Quickconnect. I have a Synology 220+

Yes, if you enable port forwarding and DNS you will not be limited to 1MB/s bandwidth that Synology have set.
You will then have your broadband upload/download limit the new bottleneck.
