I would like a to set up a Nas at home, for personal use for me and family. Mostly as a backup and cloud, but can evolce into some kind of mediaplayer

I would recommend DS118. DS218play for this purpose. You can access it remotely as well as locally thanks to its graphics chip and security. If you need something ore like Windows backups, snapshots and virtual machines then plus series would allow that.
