Nas now or wait for new nas

#1
HI see myself as an semi IT Pro, despite for my poor english

Over the past several years I have had several NASs from sonology - DS209+ DS211+ DS415 and most recently a Qnap TS-653Pro,
but my Qnap is now defective.. won't always boot up - just writes system booting for several hours.
Data has been saved by FTP from the NAS.. which took quite a long time ?

My final question is: should I wait for the new synology DS923+ or continue with Qnap?

As written earlier, my primary focus is photos, movies and securing our data via some backup.

Also thanks for the cool youtubes - Keep up the good work

If you are trying to recover from a broken Qnap NAS, you could use this guide https://nascompares.com/recover-raid-or-...p-asustor/
Otherwise, if you get a replacement Qnap, you could move drives to a new NAS and gain access this way.
If you rather trust Synology with their hardware then moving data to a new NAS is more complicated (cross-platform).
DS923+ might have a Ryzen CPU, this would effectively make it a very bad choice for multimedia. DS920+ is the best-selling NAS for a good reason. https://amzn.to/3T9DjJq
