noise levels

#1
I recently got an ASUSTOR AS5304T and love it. Plex runs wonderfully but I was not expecting the NAS system to be so loud. I only have 2 drives populated, one is an 8TB Seagate Iron Wolf and the other is a Seagate Exos 8TB not in a RAID configuration. Do you have any recommendations for minimizing the sound levels. Most of the time it runs fairly quiet but there are times where it seems like the system is running/processing a lot on the drives even though I am not using Plex or doing any file transfers.

I am mostly using the NAS for Plex and file storage for pictures, documents, videos, etc.

There is not much you can do to silence those drives. The best you could do is to introduce SSD in a first bay and reset the entire system. You can then keep less frequently accessing files on HDDs. So this will allow them to hibernate most of the time.

I hope this helps.
