I'm also interested in buying QNAP TS-230 and I have the same needs and concerns. At the moment I think that there are two secure ways to use NAS on the Internet:Use VPN + DDNS to connect + use snapshots, issue is that you need to turn on VPN every time you want to use your NAS form your phone or PC if you are not on your home network, that is maybe to complicated for the familyUse your own domain, put it on cloudflare, configure firewall and proxy + use snapshots. For me this is to much configurations and need for using 3rd party services.
