identify iSCI drive

My iSCI drive on my synology NAS (DS1019+) is no longer accessible / locatable on my iMac (Intel). The Kernsafe aSCSI initiator no longer seems to function - wont connect the drive. Possible arose folllowing either or both a DSM update or an apple o/s update.

where should I head to resolve this - new initiator ? which one works with Apple ?
